My level 19 Staravia got poisioned and had 1 HP when the game said "Staravia survived the poisoning? What in the world!
What could happen if Staravia Didn't survive?

Generally, prior to these game, your pokemon would faint if it was poisoned and you failed to heal it. Thanks to the brilliance of Nintendo and Game Freak, if you're poisoned and you don't heal it, they recover from the poisoning at 1 HP. It's a setback for the games, now, letting you progress through the game since the Elite Four is the hardest ever seen in Sinnoh. Having them start off in the lower 50's and reach an entire team of 60's. That's my view of it, anyway.
