Catching Azelf...

Ok, I'm a bit stuck here trying to catch Azelf instead of keep making him faint.

I have...

Dialga - 47
Metal Claw
Ancient Power
Dragon Claw
Roar of Time

Starapator - 45
Close Combat
Aerial Ace
Fly

Bibarel - 32
Strength
Cut
Rock Smash
Rock Climb

Psyduck -40
Fury Swipes
Screech
Surf
Zen Headbutt

Gible - 21
Sand Tomb
Dragon Rage
Sandstorm
Take Down

Egg

I also have a good Infernape in a box somewhere along with an assortment of other general pokemon... Any advice... I do take this poke's power down into the red, but still dusk balls or any balls do not catch this guy.

azelf was my first and easies on to catch

i made it go down to red by using its weakness then i made it go to sleep and then throw ultra and that one good for caves at it and go it

... OK ... But what do I need to do to get it lol

If anyone can suggest pokemon or moves or a strategy that would be cool.

If you send him to sleep and use an untra ball on him
the best pokemon to get him would be a pokemon that knows sleeping powder or yawn or sing.

LOL A better solution is a mon who knows Spore aka Breloom and Parasect. Reason y: 100% acc and using Super effect moves can some time ko the mon.

also when he goes to red use the weakest pokemon in your team that is not effective on him so he goes down to around 1 hp and throw pokeballs


Also: rich you know that time u warned me...i didnt see that coz i would have been posting so when i posted i didnt see your post coz it went to the next page......thats why i still went on.

I'd use a decent level Krickitune to put it to sleep, lower its health and keep throwing pokeballs at it.

OK ... I had some time this weekend as I had two long train journeys so have spent aout 6 hours play ... I ended trying the Bidoof method, so I caught a low level one and levelled it up quickly until I got Yawn ... Then evolved it. Unfortunatley the move fails whenever I try to do it on Azelf.

I have since moved on and am at Victory Road, I plan on going back later to try to catch Azelf and the other legendaries when I have levelled up my Bibarel more, he is currently at 40 I think.

Rich, mind if i Suggest what to do to Capture the Illustious Azelf?

True, using Sleep Methods are useful, but have you tried Paralyzing it?

Try using say a Psychic with Shadow Ball. Alakazam was used for was used for Catching Azelf in my game. but what i used was 30 Timer Balls, 50 Ultra Balls. Or if your Higher Level, then use the Ball that has a better chance on a Lower Level Pokemon, those also Work.

If Paralyzing it Fails, use Poison as a Last Resort. if all else Fails, Buy Tons of Timer Ball's and Bring an Extremely Great Wall. Bastiodon, Steelix, or any other Steel Type. just keep fighting it until its Using Struggle, just dont Bring its HP down past Orange. then its practically Easy to catch.

Some people are quite lucky and it really agitates me. They can get it with no trouble at all and with very few balls used.

Basically what I did is tried to paralyze him before he uses Nasty Plot a bunch of times, because that makes him much harder to catch. You could get some Pokemon with Haze or the like that will remove status effects to null what he did. Sleep will also prevent him from doing this, but only for a hard to predict temporary time.

I also used Taunt from someone, I forget now... That prevents him from using Nasty Plot or other status enhancing moves. He was just impossible to catch after using Nasty Plot the 3 times max, beside the fact that he murdered everything I had except Dialga or Empoleon which basically killed him in a couple hits so I couldn't keep him in red.

Thanks for the tips ... I'm probably not going to be able to paralyse or poison this dude as I don't have too many different Pokemon, I'm off instead to take on the Elite Four and see how I get on there, I just saved my game at the first guy last night.

I do have taunt I think however so will remember that when I go back to Azelf.

EDIT :: Okay had a go at the Elite 4 and failed at about the third or fourth pokemon from the psychic trainer (last one), so did ok ... May have got through if I had more reviives and potions and thought about stuff a bit more.

But overall did okay and am planning to write a short tutorial on battling the Elite 4 once done.

Cheers Chris, but I am trying to get this complete on my own first... I know I run Super Cheats ... But I don't want to cheat!

I got through the Elite 4 on the second try ... BUT I didn't know there was a fifth trainer to fight ... She mashed me up ... First the Spiritomb screwed me up badly then the Gachomp finished me off with no trouble :( Sigh ... Back to levelling up a bit more.

[b][/b]Make sure you take all of your most powerful pokemon in, and keep Dialga for Cynthia's Garchomp, only use it if you have to before that.

the best way to catch azelf is to put it to battle it at night and put it to sleep and lower it down to red and throw dark balls, this also goes for Uxie and Mispirit put that to sleep, weaken it to red and then throw quick poke'ball

for cynthia she easy, dragons, and a good electric a fight and a good water should help u out
