i have been wondering this as well. as you see team with pokemon err *thinks of same randoms moves and puts into move set* thunderbolt, surf, earthquake, HP(flying) for in game teams

Yes, I ahve noticed on Shinny's and Ben's teams they have control over what Hidden power they ahve on their pokémon.

you have to breed a lot to have the desired hidden power and with a good base power
i had very luck with my HP flying 65 salamence though

i taught HP to my houndoom and i couldnt work out what it was. it didnt affect ghost so i thought it could be fighting, but when i used it on steel or rock pokemon it said it wasnt very effective. how could i have a normal hidden power?

Ok, one problem. I bred Dodrio and Fearow (both of which i taught Hidden power and put them at the top of the moves ) and the baby Dodrio had Hidden power as it is in a TM. No type, just Normal with --- as damage.

hidden power description doesn't show up the type and base power of your pokemon...you have to put the stats on a IV calculator to know the hidden power type and base power
