It took me a while to figure it out for myself, but these codes
do work . It's a bit more complicated then was presented, but here it is.
For these codes to work, you need an
Action Replay , or a
Gameshark .
NOT A GAMESHARK SP . The latter was another device made using the same name, but made by a different company called Mad Catz. The Gameshark and the Action Replay are the same device, different packaging, for different parts of the globe.
This is the most important part. You need the first version of Fire Red for this code to work. There were several Fire Red "versions" that were released. The most plentiful on the physical and emu supply chains are the Player's Choice version of Fire Red. An easy way to tell if it's this version is: while the game is loading, it should state "Gamefreak"
followed by, "Presents." THIS CODE WILL NOT WORK ON THIS VERSION TO MY KNOWLEDGE.
You need the earliest version of Fire Red for this code to work. Like the version stated above, while the game is loading, you want to see "Gamefreak,"
and that's all . This means that the version is correct. An easy way to tell I've found with the physical copies of the game, is to check the indented numbers on the cartridge, and if they are two to three numbers in length, non-stacked, it should be the first version.
Now with all that boring crap out of the way, here's the code with the master. It was really rewarding to have spent a couple weeks experimenting with codes, versions, and frustrations to finally see myself as Blue/Rival in game.

edit: Retyped the code as it should appear as entered on your Action Replay/Gameshark.
