Plates mean the RUBY and SAPPHIRE stones (ONLY 2).

u should join team K.A. its fun and there are some cool members like Dark_Espeon_1220 and others but hes the only onei can remember and veemaster cant foget him(i havent realy talked to him but he is part of the team)

first of all the day care center is on island 4. to get to island 4 5 6 7 you must get the ruby plate once you do he will tell you about another sapphire crystal you dont need to get this one ( unless you want to trade with r/s) hell just give you the pass if you get the ruby one

gameshark codes are things you enter in to a gameshark when you enter it the cheat will work on your game and you have a choice to use it or not anytime because you can save it on there....how to get them is simple if you have the gameshark pack you put the cd in and load it on ur puter...go to gameshark.com and there are alot of cheats or if u wanna go the game you want and go under cheats and user submitted cheats sometimes they are on there and i think there is one just for codes....check it out.
