Lulz, I'm serious. If you use a cheat to get an alternate trainer sprite outside of battles, if you're lucky you can do a moonwalk towards your desired direction. To perform one, step once in the opposite direction, then toggle your Running Shoes and move the other way.
It doesn't always work, and some characters can't even do it, but there are times when you will be able to do it.
Sprites I know for sure that can do it (again, if you're lucky) are Falkner, Riley, and Giovanni. The others I'm not sure on.

only messin, you can do it with any character when moving right-to-left. you can then move normally when you change direction.

Okay, so. It's practically impossible to make yourself do a moonwalk while running. An easy, surefire way to moonwalk, though, is to run (slide) left, then take the running shoes off and walk. You'll walk backwards. Glitchy, yes, but that's what makes it so amusing.

Riley looks the best doing a Moonwalk, in my opinion. Like a Michael Jackson who dresses in blue.
