It took me at least 20-30 tries. And I had the Golden Mask for 10 of them. Also I was Master Rank and was lv.100.

I've beaten Darkrai like 15 time, and Darkrai STILL hasn't joined.
May make random appearances every-so-often. Trying to officially return...

Well he joined my first time but I had an amber tear, lvl 100 finally, and master rank. But he has like a 1/10th of a chance of being recruited I think.

isnt he supposed to appear at dark crater 3f?because no matter how much i looked, i couldnt find him.

He will appear at Miracle Sea 3F, not Dark Crater. There are various locations, but Miracle Sea is the easiest.
It's recruit rate, according to UPC, is -22%. But this figure is nothing w/o knowing the boosting percentage of Amber Tear and Golden Mask.  | ||

if you have both the golden mask and the amber tear,will they both affect the recruitment rate?or will only one work?i dont have the amber tear so i dont know if it has to be held by the leader or not.does it?

No it doesn't. And I got Darkrai first try with a Golden Mask and the IQ Fast Friend on Cresselia at level 100, my rank being Master. Mewtwo didn't come along as easy though >_>

Amber Tear and Golden Mask must be held by the leader to work, so even that you bring both, you can only have effect of one.
In fact, Mewtwo and Darkrai has the same recruitment rate of -22%. I think you got lucky w/ Darkrai... | ||

its a fire/earth dungeon and i have a torchic and a treecko. great matchup right  | ||

@pokemaster: Yes, both of the Pokemon needs the presence of either Secret Slab or Mystery Part to appear.

@awesome5598: The first time you go there, it's a boss fight and Darkrai can be found there. But you won't find it there when you return. It will appear in any of these locations:

However, once you recruit it once, it will only appear in dungeons if you bring it along. | ||
