With Pokemon Platinum only a week away from launch in North America (well, less than a week technically), I figured I'd UnPin the general discussion thread and replace it with this countdown thread. This thread will be for launch and general Pokemon Platinum discussion.

History Lesson:
Well, it all started way back last year around April 15th when it was revealed by CoroCoro, a Japanese magazine that often reports major Pokemon news, that they would be revealing the third Generation IV game in the next month's issue. Then, around May 11th rumors of Pokemon Platinum began to surface with a leaked cell phone picture of a page with Pokemon Platinum on it from CoroCoro and other rumors from various sources. Within the next day or so, a high-resolution scan of said page was leaked. Then, finally on May 15th the magazine was officially released and the game was officially confirmed by Nintendo. For the next few months, information on the game's features, storyline, etc. was slowly revealed by CoroCoro and other sources, including the September 13th, 2008 release date for Japan.

Pokemon Platinum was indeed released on September 13th in Japan, and within two or three days of its release it had already sold over a million copies, making it the fastest selling Nintendo DS game of all time. The info stream began to die off for the next few months, only details on events, movies, additional details, etc. were revealed. Then in late December it was revealed at a Nintendo press conference that the North American release date was to be March 22nd, 2009. It would later be revealed that the European release date would be May 22nd, 2009, exactly two months after the North American release.

So here we are, on the day of the North American release date. Woooooooo!!!

So, who thinks the launch will be a frenzy? I do, I think there will be people camped out hours before the stores open on March 22nd and will be jam packed.

i am very excited and cant wait after 7 days i will start to play pokemon again and yes i belive all the people who dont play pokemon any more will also come to but it and the shops will be filled with pokemon fans

Yeah, I know. I started last night playin' my Diamond gettin' it ready to trade all my good stuff over to Platinum after I beat the game. I can't wait, I've waited for almost a year for this game. I posted most of the news about on SC. I'm so excited!

same here i am playing dimond as we speak buts its said that i broke my leg so i cant go to the store mtyself any way my bro will get it for me i am so pumped

That sucks, my Mom's gonna take me to get mine next Sunday.

I am going to be going to Game Stop on Sunday afternoon to get my copy. and I am just happy that all I have to do is go in and get it, because I payed it off when I pre-ordered. And anyone that didnt pre-order shouldnt bother going to the stores because they dont usually have any to sell the day it is released.

You can play any DS game on the DSi.

The only major difference is the built in camera. Kinda stupid IMO.

I've payed off my game at Gamestop so no rush for me. I nearly spent all of my money to pay it off before hand, good thing I don't need the guide as the D/P guides weren't as well written as the guides before hand for the other games.

And they took out the GBA slot, so no Pal Park with the DSi.


And I agree, the guide for D/P was horrible compared to the one for FR/LG. BUt I might buy the Platinum one just to have it. I haven't decided yet.

i hope it has some cool wifi activites speaking of wifi can anyone tell from where can i buy a nintendo wifi usb in usa can i get it from wals mart or toys r us thanks for the help

Coachline,I think has been the person that wanted this game the most by far on SC. I pre-orderd 2 copies and fully paid for them both. My Gamestop store is opening at Midnight to allow the volume of customers to get a chance to get in and get out and not be in the way of the customers who are not getting Platinum during the day. At midnight also Walmart will be selling them too. I am excited I EV'd my Timid Tru Shaymin and I can't wait to use him in Sky Forme along with my Lawnmower Rotom. You will def see my hedge Cutter in many of my youtube battles once I get Platinum.

Why would you need 2 copies?

You can not get them anywhere. The product has been discontinued for the time being, which is why I am so mad that my mother lost mine.

why did they discountinued that do u have any info when they will start selling them again because if i dont get the usb i would have to buy a nintendo dsi

Only about 5 and a half days until the release, and it makes me happy.


I don't know for sure why they discontinued them, but you can see if Nintendo.com has any information about it.

nah nothings on nintendo .com so that means i wont be able to play online any only 5 days left i am getting more excited
