I think if you stun him and use a fighting pokemon... I dunno lol I haven't caught him either but when I did the stun/fighting, I got him down to 2 loops before he escaped.

The easiest way to catch him, is to go to the Ruins at the top of the forest and get a Shedinja. She will not be able to move when you are using the Ghost assist, and you must circle fast, and let go as soon as the numbers turn green.

mew wont attack you,follow what mummification said and also maybe catch an ariados..mew is afraid of bugs and ghosts pokemon assists
