IMO, with the exception of blastoise, water starters have advantages because they are weak against 2 types (grass, electric). Fire is weak against 3, and grass is weak against 5. I really love toadadile because at goldenrod u can buy ice beam which gives a nice advantage early in the game.

Why is blaziken the bad hoenn starter? I think all of the starters in hoenn are good but the bad starter that we all know is charizard because he has low stats and is very weak against rock type.

I agree when I played Ruby for the firsts time took me FOREVER! My friends told me to try Mudkip and took me a week though I haven't tried Treeko yet so that's still a possiblity. Hope this helps Smile

the least one I would choose is mudkip, I usually go with grass or fire first as a starter.

Mudkip is horrible!. Grass is x4. Empolion is the best because fire is not super effective and lightning just fails, ground might be x2 but empolion can take a ground type with hydro pump. The only 2 super effective pokemon types left are grass and fighting. Empolion learns drill peck for fighting and ice beam for grass! 4 moves are drill peck, ice beam, hydro pump or some other water type attack, and iron head because he is steel!

If swampert has no water moves then what is the point of the water type? I taught him Surf because its an alright move.Wiseguy

For the competitive scene between 1-3 generations
1st gen Venusaur is the best
Blastoise is the worst with Czard inbetween

2nd gen
Meganium is crap
Feraligator is sometimes used in lower brackets
Typhlosion also bad

3rd gen
Swampert - is a god competitively
Blaiziken sucks machamp outclasses he's too vulnerable
Sceptile same as feraligator

As for non competitive it goes by difficulty while playing the game
