Pidgeot and noctowl are both good pokemon
I always have two diffrent teams one for the game and one for wifi
I'm still working on what I might use for my wifi team I'm thinking golem and maybe charzard for part of my wifi team the others I have decided on yet

I would go with totodile cause of gyardos is weaker against electric types

True, but you could give a Wacan Berry to Gyardos to help protect him agaisnst his 4X weakness to electric. I'm about surviving as long as possible so everyone in my party will be put to good use. When I notice a Pokemon has a 4X weakness to something, Bam. I put something on them that'll protect them. Or just use Protect/Detect xD

Gyarados has good Special Defence. You'll be surprised at how well he takes Electric hits. He's certainly no saint at taking them, but he doesn't get OHKO'd.

I don't have a well trained Gyrados, so I don't know. But when HG/SS comes out, I'm going to save+reset the game until I get a good natured Red Gyrados.

I would have to check to see what the best natures are.In the first games when you made your team you didn't hsve to worry about the best natures for your pokemon.

Yeah, but now, that's changed since the 3rd and 4th generation.
Adamant would be +Attack, -Sp. attack
Jolly would be +Speed, -Sp. attack
