The uses of 3-D

Well it would show the Pokemon your looking up in 3D. You could rotate the camera around it, as well as zoom in and out.

Well even doing that with pixelated sprites and over 600 Pokemon would be too much memory alone.

Exacly, that'ss what I don't get about these battles... But Ive got an idea for over world, since the cities are all 3=D lookin now, I guess the could finaly give function to the R/L buttons by having a rotating camera. Sprite each trainer from 8 angles intead of 4 so it makes sense and the angle you veiw from the character moves along with the cam.

That's what I've been thinking may happen. Otherwise, in certain areas the camera moves automatically, but your idea's would be better and allow more 3D functionality.

I agree, I think that would be a pretty cool add on and make battling far more appealing to people. Believe it or not many people are turned off to Pokemon battling because it looks simple due to the sprites simply sitting there during battle. Its almost as if people view it as simplistic and for kids. The new 3D view could help with that misconception, if they made the moves look good, it would as well, be all the better.
