1) the word "Gaijin" means "foreigner" and is meant to be insulting.
2) you never see yourself nor do you have a single line in the entire
game.
3) there are actually several legends that say ninjas can freeze time.
4) in the mission Tetsuo's Games, you can hear the famous
Rayman: Raving Rabbits scream in the security room after the elevator
before you turn the power back on.
5) despite being called "RED Steel" there is no blood in the game. Or
at least not any human blood. In the mission "Fish Market" if you
shoot the hanging fish and blood will fly everywhere.

In addition to the scream, there are several Rabbids in the Tetsuo's Games mission.
There are also four guys dressed as Power Rangers, who you must sword-fight.
In the Geisha mission, there are pictures of the developers wearing blonde wigs on the inside of a locker door.

When you are captured & being beaten up by the man with the strange hair style, you are not tied to the chair as you just get up and just happen to find a wooden sword - which beats a steel one.

"Kuso" means "damn" or "damn it" and the people in red steel says it all the time.
