They couldn't have kept on doing the same thing forever, which is why Resident Evils 4 and 5 arc in an action-horror direction. Besides, more and more people were griping about the old control system and zombies were beginning to lose their touch. Also, Capcom thought that if the series became an acion series, it would appeal to a wider audience and sell more. And they were right.

While I had some great fun with the earlier Resi games, I'm glad they made the change. Series need to move on. Those that can, should. Those that can't should just die (like Tekken).

I know what you mean, and I still play the old games often. But they can only keep doing the same thing for so long before critics and the public alike get tired of it.

I got the game and its AMAZING 8D

i just played it today at a friends house and IT...IS....INCREDIBLE!!! anyone who does not play it should go die, lol

My mail order came a day late so I couldn't play it on Friday, sadly (although I got it for about 70% of the regular price, whichw as worth it). Excellent game.

I got it on the Friday it came out and in my opinion it is one of the best games yet in the series, although the older games were awesome (especially RE3). ANYONE WHO DOESN'T PLAY THIS GAME AT LEAST ONCE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE MISSING!

After playing through it, I'd say Resident Evil 5 would take the bronze medal if anyone ever asked what the best games in the series were.

I got it last friday and it's brilliant, to be honest I don;t mind its more of an action series now, its quite good, and although some people will probably disagree I think the fact that you can't 'run n gun' is pretty good, makes the game better in my opinion, people who moan about the fact you have to stand still to shoot should try playing the originals because you didn't even get the red laser sight to aim back then, still they were great games.

However, one could argue that in the originals it was as easy to aim as a point and click flash game.

Either way I'm looking forward to the supposed dlc we might be getting that adds things like slayer and more stuff, it sounds fun, although more stages and a couple of new characters for The Mercinaries would be cool to.

I would have expected you would be able to play as Josh in the Mercenaries. I mean, he didn't die and he was central to the plot. Then again, I always wondered why Luis wasn't playable in the Mercenaries in Resident Evil 4.

Josh is playable in mercenaries you just need to unlock him by achieving a score of 40,000 points. It's not easy on your own though. Jill and Wesker are also unlockable along with a few others. Unlocking Wesker and Jill also requires 40,000 points. There are other characters aswell but I'm not sure who.

I read that only Chris, Sheva, Jill and Wesker were playable characters in the Mercenaries.

Just checked it out again and you're right. I thought I saw him in a list of playable characters before, my mistake.

I guess it makes sense, as Josh supposedly rescues you from a heliopter once your time runs out.

Lol, and here I was about to start thinking heavily about Josh not being a playable character.
Anyway I know most of the characters you can unlock, they are:
Chris - Stars
Chris - Not sure what costume it is, but you get at least 2 Chris characters with the 1 already available.
Sheva - Same as above, she gets 2 other characters aside from the 1 available, unsure of what they are though
Jill - BSAA
Jill - Battle Suit (When she's under Weskers Control)
Wesker - Stars
Wesker - Midnight (As he is when you fight against him with Jill)

Anyway thats all I know, and I know that getting 40000 points with different characters will unlock a new character depending on the character you use.

That doesn't sound too easy. I can't get many point at all with the original Chris and original Sheva.

How do you unlock the different stages in the Mercenaries?

I think you need at least a B rank or over 25,000 points. That's what I had gotten when I unlocked some of them. I've only managed to unlock Jill so far with Chris. The shotgun he has is very useful. I still can get 40,000 points with Sheva though.
