Why not? You get all sorts of chao that way. The only way to get a knuckles chao is through AR.

i will only resort to AR if my neutral running chao doesnt become a sonic chao(neutral run first evolution run second evolution)

this is why it's called a knuckles chao, an ar version is more knuckles-like though. this is the natural version
