In the SSBM Strategy Guide it says you can get a Ditto out of a pokeball yet i have never seen one. If anyone has encountered a Ditto or if you know its a typo reply.

it was taken out in the finalized version of melee, presumably because of the slowdown the game would experience with too many characters (eight ice climbers all dittoed would mean 16 characters on the screen at once, something the game wouldn't be able to support without severe slowdown).

You can still get ditto, using AR, but, it doesn't apear to do anything... Does it? If not, what was it GOING to do?

It was supposed to follow you around like Nana and mimic your attacks, I believe; after it transformed into your clone, of course...that would make sweetspotting the ledge very interesting...

Hmm, could any character do the ice climbers freez glitch, then? (btw, it is possible to have a clone supporter via AR)

You can get Ditto using the debug in AR, buT I haven't gotten him to do anything, just twirls around and disapears.
