in the long run, the falcon kick recovery will always get more distance than the non-falcon kick recovery. same with the wizard's foot. given the height, it is almost always preferable to use these methods of recovery.

But, falcon falls fast enough to almost make his dive not be able to recover the fall from the falcon kick (at low heights).

oh, sometimes you can't. basically the falcon kick recovery loses temporary height for an overall gain. there's nothing more to say about it...

you're losing height to gain horizontal distance. this way, you get more horizontal distance per unit of height than if you just fall towards the stage, but you HAVE to give a large amount of height for it to work, so it can only be used when you have a lot of height to spare.

i suppose, although usually the stun lasts long enough so it wouldn't make too much of a difference. captain falcon usually *likes* height though, considering he has the highest resistance to upward attacks in the game! in case of an attack like fox or pikachu's up smash, usually you're in hitstun too long to put this in effect :(

But sometimes he'll 'waveglide' upward, say from Falco's shine, while not in hitstun, allowing for him to do it...
