Bethesda's epic PC, 360, and PS3 RPG will be getting a special Game of the Year edition that will include both expansion packs.

By Emma Boyes, Tor Thorsen, GameSpot UK

SANTA MONICA, Calif.--Bethesda Softworks' open-world role-playing game The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be joining its processor Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind in the Game of the Year edition club. In September, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 GOTY editions of the game will hit retail in North America. The new version will include the original game, expansion pack The Shivering Isles, and the extra content pack The Knights of the Nine. The GOTY edition is $59.99 for 360 and PS3 and $49.99 for PC and will be rated M for Mature like the original game.

Oblivion was released in April 2006 on the 360 and PC, and in March 2007 on the PlayStation 3. The fantasy RPG starts with the main character escaping from prison only to find his native realm of Cyrodiil overrun with Daedra, demonic creatures from the realm of Oblivion. The protagonist then allies with the late emperor's illegitimate son, who is determined to rid the world of the aforementioned hellish invasion.

The expansion pack The Shivering Isles added the realm of Sheogorath, ruled by the Daedric prince of madness. It contained around 30 extra hours of gameplay, as well as new creatures, dungeons, and quests. Knights of the Nine contained extra content including the titular faction and new quests, weapons, and armor.

Another one? They pulled the same stunt with Morrowind. Personally, I think it's nothing to do with making it easier for people to get the expansions but just to squeeze the last drops of money out of the already dry sector.

What is the point in it? If you really wanted Knights and Isles, you could have downloaded it. I don't even have LIVE but I did. Besides, I doubt all the people that were willing to get Oblivion allready got it and don't want to buy it just for that. But I am not the expert and could be completely wrong on this.

Sweet thats good for me then I already have Oblivion and to buy the expansions would cost me an extra 40$. So that would add up to about
110$ spent on the game. Or I could use the other choice and trade in my game for 40$ or so and then buy the GOTY edition so let me see... I would lose about 40$ instead of losing 110$. Correct me if my math is wrong.

Edit: Canadian money put in.

This game cost me 15, and I never bought the expansions, as I don't realy play it enough for them.

For someone who has no Internet connection, no Live exceterathis will be great for them. Plus it adds extra to an already amazing game. So the people who thought about it before, but maybe went for a different game, may change their minds.

I need to get back into this game...

Hmm... the PC version would have to require a fast computer. I would of bought it for my comp if I had more RAM. Then all the problems I hated that were on oblivion would be gone because I would download patches.

I wonder where they will take Oblivion now. I think it would be a good idea for Bethesda to cooperate with those people doing that mod where they are filling in the rest of the world e.g. Black Marsh, Skyrim.

So would the GOTY edition have ALL the mods in it? Like horse armour, Mehrunes razor, Imperial orrey ect. Or is it just the two other places you can go to?
