i wish it was like R&C, when you kill monsters, tehy release nanotech (could be fairies in lof) which boosts hp

I'm guessing it's because the overworld is bigger than before, so there's more places to hide them in.

i think 5 piesces wil be better it wil take you longer to find therefore adding more time on to the games length.

yea, but sometimes if it adds to the games length you get bored and quit,
i came 4 pokemon away from beating ruby (4 more still) + i could get 2 if i grew lots of berries, perfectly blended
another i need to steal a moon stone

Didnt it used to be like 3, then it went up to four, and now 5!! Or even beter yet in the original one there were no heart pieces. I personally dont like them. I think they're an artificial means to extend gameplay. And although with this game that may be a good thing, I would much rather see an extra dungeon, story event, or part of the overworld than have to deal with the stupid heart pieces.

Heart pieces annoy me aswell, I seriously cannot be asked to stomp over the land in search of them when I could be slaying a the lord of evil, if I see one I do my best to get it, but I never go out of my way to find them.

There are 45 of them, but I still got 3 more container things to get so I guess I only have to find 15 more, whoo!
