How do you rename a sims

This is ridiculous. I agree with other people, the sims should only have their last name changed if they get married but at the engaged part, there should be an option to whether their last name changes because some people (real people) do like their last name and don't change it. Some people even hyphen their names (e.g. [friends] Emma geller-green)

My sims got married and there names changed to there last names and there last names changed to there normal names.

You can change the first names with the boolprop cheat with the L D tombstone cheat

It's annoying because I called my baby sim a boy name and it grew up to be a girl

I called my sim Emma cull but she married next her name was Emma Reid .
I abandoned her by accident.

Yeah, I had the geek haven and a guy called mason wickens in there, and because there was four beds I added a guy called phil to the house, but he became phil wickens, but they were only supposed to be best friends! It's stupid, they shouldn't take the same last name as their best friends. It would be a bit weird in real life, don't you think?
