I have the same problem and turns out, your sim is jus tired. You have to wait a day before you can send your sim to work. You can only work 2 times in a row Max's.
I think it is a different problem if your mailbox stops delivering. I hope this was helpful guys.

I have the same problem but really it's only because the game doesn't want you to work all the time so you can get objectives done faster! So try to do some objectives and try again because reinstalling and stuff like that won't work! Hope I helped.

you need to get your sim to sleep through alarm so the greyed out work button will go back to one with the exclamation point.
