You find mirrors as well as other things that will help your Sims in their various careers in the "Promotions Center", which is right next door to the "Pet Store". By the way, pets DO dig up, not only simoleans (albeit not many at a time, this CAN be helpful cause you don't have to do anything in order to get these. But when your pet (or your neighbor's pet) is praised, they will find larger sums of money and LP's. ok? I hope I was helpful.

I'm not completely sure but I think for the soccer ball goal you might need a childrens store and you buy it from there, this is just a guess as I have not reached that goal, nor have I got the children's store (I have the goal to build one but. Can't yet afford it!!!!!

To practice painting you have to go to the store next to the pet store (I forget the name but I think it's the hobby store) and you buy an easel. It will be in your inventory after you buy it. Then you put it in one of your houses and you can use it.
You do the same thing with the soccer ball and the telescope.
If the goal is to do these things in a neighbors town then you have to find a neighbor with what you need. If you look and none of your neighbors have these items then you ask them to get it if you know them or if you don't then you get more neighbors to search through.
