My download are actually pretty fast.
I did it from a different server and got this.
Try different places and is how your connection fails or prevails.

Yeah, not really. 
You want Download and Upload speed with high numbers; Ping should be as low as possible. Something around ~50 is already fairly good.

Oh, I have no idea. I don't really pay attention when I'm downloading things.. I just minimize it and do whatever I was doing before I started downloading it. ;p
