Post some of your favorite drummers here and tell why they're your favorite.

Flo Mounier(Cryptopsy)- He's absolutely badass. The speed and intensity of his drumming are unreal.

Neil Peart(Rush)- Unlike most other drummers, Peart often plays melodic symphonies on the drums.

Mike Portnoy.

I know I've been whoring myself out to Dream Theater, but face it, they're all masters of their instruments.

Also Gene Hoglan.

I'm going to say Mike Portnoy. He has both outstanding skill and outstanding style.

Gar Samuelson! He looks like a freak, but he's one of the best drummers I've ever heard. WAY better than his competition when he was still alive (primarily Lars Ulrich, since Gar played in Megadeth). Shame he died so early in his career. >:

The Rev (RIP) from Avenged Sevenfold, and Shaun Drover from Megadeth.

I am also quite fond of early days Lars from Metallica.
I'm gone - bye

Yeah, Lars was much more interesting on the drums back in the 80s.

The only songs I ever liked Lars's drumming in was Enter Sandman, One, and For Whom The Bell Tolls. He's given far too much credit, in my opinion.

Danny Carey - Tool
very musical, plays complicated off-time beats and uses lots of hand to feet patterns.

Dave Lombardo - Slayer, Fantomas
Very fast and very intense

Vinnie Paul - Pantera, Damageplan, Hell Yeah
Plays with aggresion, style fits the bands he plays with perfectly

Christoph Schneider - Rammstein
Plays to the music, nothing to complicated, but it sounds amazing

Couple that haven't been mentioned yet...

Jan Axel "Hellhammer" Blomberg - Has played for half the black metal bands in Norway at some point as well as a few bands playing other sorts of metal. Incredibly precise, skilled drummer and a hugely successful musician.

Terry Bozzio - Has the best damn drum kit ever:

And he's still playing despite being nearly sixty now. Not just simple stuff either, he filled in for Dave Lombardo on a Fantmas tour, and Lombardo finds Fantmas difficult. Major respect.

I'm with Mark and Bozzio.

The first video Mark linked me too was Bozzio playing with Fantmas. Not only did he blow my mind, but he got me hooked on Patton.

Joey Jordison from Slipknot is just insane. Also, Dave Grohl is also quite awesome when he used to drum for Nirvana.

I'd like to object to that. Nirvana's drumming never really struck awe into anyone, ever. It went along with the music, but it wasn't awesome.

Probably more actually. Hell, you can't even see all six bass drums in that picture.

?uestlove of The Roots. His drumming is just ill, it's funky, it's soulful. His style is my cup of tea.

Presumably he wanted all of them. He doesn't necessarily need all of them, but each will produce a slightly different sound and presumably he likes having such a wide array of drums.

I suppose it makes up for the fact that he had to cut chunks out of his cymbals when he played with Zappa, because Zappa hated loud cymbals.

I can relate to that. Having more options is always a nice thought.
