No, didn't ruin it for me. It actually made me wonder what's in the area where the Sinjoh Ruins are.
I liked the event, I obviously chose Giratina so I could get a Griseous Orb. The whole event was like some weird drug trip.

It was a problem created when they prevented you from tradin' the Orb from Platinum so they had to fix it some way.
