After having a fairly lengthy argument with a typical Youtube troll about studying, I started thinking about what motivated me back at High School to study. And of course, now to job hunt & other things that I really can't be arsed in doing.
So the question of the day is, what kind of tools/means do you use to motivate you into doing something you don't necessarily want to do.
For me, music. Music is everything. Right now it's Blue Stahli, Celldweller & various dubstep artists which seem to put me into the right frame of mind to get onto doing things I have to do.

In the last copule of years i have don't find study to be hard infact i sometimes rather study then play video games i love it specialy science <3.
My motovation for studying for example physics was. Curiostiy . That one word could define why i love to study astronomy. I mean think about all the endless posiblietes about what could be out there. It just rasies my concencies.
So yea incase of study my motivation always has been curisity. If i am doing maths my motivation come from "Can i solve this problem in x time with out anyone's help" and if i can't and i need help i always find it funny that i missed such a stupid detail out :P.

Picture the finished product, and the perks you'll attain from doing the task, rather than looking at the negatives and what'll happen should you not...
Also telling yourself you 'have to' do thinks make them out to be a chore.
I was never able to motivate myself to study but it was easy to do it to find a job because I'm thinking about the money, without it I can't do anything and I'd be sober every weekend which just isnt worth thinking about
I get motivated by listening to music. For example I was on Facebook Friday night having a conversation with my mother (who is in the house with me & before you say anything I know we could have spoke but I couldn't be bothered) & she asked me to wash the dishes, which I absolutely despise doing, so she said you can listen to your music whilst doing them, so I gave it ago & it was actually more exciting. I didn't mind it all really, however, my mum better not make a habit out of it lol.
My only motivation with essays and other things related to school is the realisation that if I leave it to the last second to do, it won't get done, and if that happens I can't talk a load of crap to my teacher all the time to get out of it.
Job Hunting is Motivated with the idea of money which becomes stuff i want. School and anything to do with it, well I still haven't found a way to motivate me to do it.

That's a nice way to express things, you faq. Here's another: you don't go to school, you just study when and what you want to. When you're studying subjects you actually like, you don't need any extra motivation. Get back to me again when you have to study for an English test you'll have the day after you got a new PS3 game. *hand emoticon x100*
As for the question, I imagine the benefits I'll get by performing the task. Simple, eh.
