Well I did this with Gimp...
I know I chose a terrible Simisear pic because it looks disgusting and all but I want to know what you all think of the pic over all!!

this your first time using gimp? cuz if so not to bad. I see a spiral gradient in there if im correct. and its either a C4D or the flame effect. My guess is on C4D. But if it is a first try its not to bad though my attention goes more toward the top left corner where its bright instead of your focus which is a problem

I'm not a gimp expert, i have used it a few times, but i'd suggest looking through some of the Tuts. Try doing some and just keep practicing. Eventually you'll get it down, i mean for a first try it wasn't too bad, but if i were you i'd look through the Tuts and practice.

Keep trying out different things. You will have some failures, but you can only learn from them. But for a first, not bad at all.
As for the sig, you've made some begginner errors, but of course, that is natural. The ext shouldn't be plastered on like that, and it should be a colour that matches the sig, instead of white. You'll learn all of this in time, just giving you a bit of a head start (:
I see you've done some smudging, and it's quite good for a beginner ^_^ it's pretty creative too.
Overall, not bad at all. Just keep doing more tags (sigs) and I'm sure all of us here (which is basically me, craizen, lelouch and Seth :P) will help you.
