I think SuperCheats should have like and dislike buttons for the posts similar to what they have for the subs. There are some really good and detailed posts and it really annoys me that you can't say that they are good without posting something yourself. It doesn't have to be used if you don't want it or if it would take way to long to add. But I think it would be a good idea.
Thanks for reading!

I think a dislike button might cause some...arguments.... And I think an idea for a like button has been floating about a while now Still want it though
I like the 'like' button, but not the 'dislike' button so much. The fact that Facebook hasn't added one in the face of people clamouring for it just shows you that it's not a good idea.
yeah.... because everything Facebook does is a good idea... xD
Tbh - why not roll with a dislike feature? Instead of "like" and "dislike" why not roll with something similar to Tickld? Karma.
Karma + and Karma - kind of thing.
Tie it into the main site.
Use the already established thumbs system and integrate it into a forum karma structure and have that combined with our "trust" levels to give us an overal rating. It will tie into potentially bringing subbers to the forums - for it will (as it does with points) be necessary to post in forums and sub to main site to build your karma/rep. Like-wise for forum posters to sub. Hell - scrap the points system all together for this trust/karma style of rating.
Numbers such as our points totals are absolutely meaningless to those who view the site. But revamp it into a site "trust" deal and it may have a better draw card effect than our current points system.

Yes, good ideas - we should integrate the trust indicator more. And we can use the thumbs system to like a thread (or dislike) - using dislike we can then more easily see which threads/posts have been disliked and go moderate them if necessary.
While I don't have an account there or anything, reddit seems to have success with it's karma system.
I guess it would be a good idea to at least update our existing systems so that people can gather points or w/e for having posts and topics liked. Maybe even get bonus points for topics that get a lot of posts, etc. While it wouldn't actually do anything it might encourage people to stay and try to get more points. It would basically be like how in the past members used to compete, trying to be the person with the most forum posts or the most subs, etc.
'Like' and 'Dislike' buttons would be good. We have fun with them on PXE (or had, rather. PXE is dead nowadays).
People might take the 'dislike' button too seriously, though. A real shame. I'd say add them both, give them a trial run.
Karma sounds like a good alternative/additional option. Could certainly help with getting new members competing with each other, like they did back in the days when it wasn't almost impossible to get on the Stats pages.
If at all possible, make it so that if we do utilize a "dislike" button, each member can only use it once, not necessarily once per topic, but more once per post so as to avoid spamming, and people just clicking it for some obscure reason.
