I feel like something needs to be done with the site's Youtube channel. Currently, only 3 videos have been uploaded in the past year. I know the Youtube channel was never supposed to be anything big, but surely with a site this big, with this much content, we can get some more videos up. The channel really needs some TLC; some advertising beyond that tiny button on the menu bar, some actual content uploaded.
The channel has nearly 2 million views as it is, which isn't much in the world of Youtube, but think if more content was uploaded and people found SC on Youtube, instead of finding the Youtube through SC. 20 million views, 200 million, it's easily possible. All those people coming from Youtube are potential forum posters and subbers.

Well, what kind of content could be put on it? And who would be creating it.
Something like gaming news would obviously make sense, but that doesn't stand out. Otherwise proper walkthrough and hints/tips kind of videos maybe?

A lot of the videos already hosted here could go on there. Mainly all the videos from the guides, trailers and stuff.

Thing with the video game content is, we're gonna need proper rights for that stuff, plus is if we want to monetize any of the content, that's a whole different thing.

Technically they're still infringing copyright, but unless they monetize it, the companies don't care since it's free advertisement for them. But if monetized, they'll kill ya.
All these networks like machinima for example, have contracts with publishers, and their partners can upload that stuff without worrying about copyright.

Ah. Do we really need to monetize? I was thinking of the channel being more in the way of free advertising for the site.

Not too worried about monetizing our youtube channel. But we do have a plan for youtube, thing is it takes a bit of time to organise our videos for upload to YT. So Mark has been working on a semi-automated method for us to do this for all of our guide videos.
Yes there is also the issue with copyright as the owners strictly speaking are the games companies that own the game, that is for all images, logos and videos. There is an argument for fair use, but that is for more with commentaries overlayed and the images are used to help describe something.
We also really want to try to get one of our writers to work on a special Master Class video series but as yet, we've not been able to work something out.
