I think this site could use a section to share mods for PC games. Mods are the new cheats.

One problem with mods is that some devs and publishers do not condone mods to their games, thus making them technically illegal as they'd violate terms of said games. Other than controlling that, it's an alright idea. We don't exactly have a big audience of PC gamers though.

I support this although it'd have to be limited to companies that allow modding (bethesda being one).

I think this would be a really good idea.
Like others said, it'd just be a matter of paying attention to what games 'allow' mods. It'd be mostly, maybe even completely, limited to PC games. I wouldn't allow random users to open pages for individual games, but just allow them to submit requests. And then look up the 'legality' of mods for that game.

But for starters:
Minecraft and the GTA series (which are obviously all popular games) both allow and encourage modding. The SimCity games do, too. Possibly main-series Sims games. Most, if not all, Bethesda games. A lot of the Sid Meier's games are popular for modding (and I'm sure many future Firaxis-developed games will be, too). As with Valve games.

That's already quite a bit of content added to the site - and much more relevant to present-day 'cheating' in games. Again, I definitely think this would be a good idea.

he biggest drawback to this is the amount of server space it would take, if people are regularly download mods that can get quite large.

Yeah, I didn't even think of that part of it.
I suppose there could be a possibility of linking to other sites that are actually hosting mods.
Use here as a link dump sort of thing, add in some sort of 'mod help' section for each.
But sites that already host mods usually have that sort of thing, anyway, plus have communities that are 'dedicated' to modding, unlike here.

Mod support here would be a nice feature, and could potentially bring more activity, but I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work out that great. And putting the effort into adding the sections and handling server load and space may not pay off.

Can't really knock it 'til you try it though, right? May as well do some sort of 'test' thing with it. See how it goes.

What? You mean the Tech FAQs?
That's just text. It doesn't take up nearly as much space on a server as hosting mod files would. I don't think they'd have any issues with creating the actual site pages for mods - that's just a matter of copying the HTML from the other pages, and linking it to the CSS.
The problem with a mod section is just hosting the files, and deciding whether or not it's worthwhile. There's a chance it won't bring more activity, just because this site has never been much for modding.

I would actually visit this site if mods were available on this site. Since I trust this site, and having mods on this site particularity. I don't have to worry about shaddy sites or worry to much.

In the top-right corner, there is a game search box. Type in the game you need and find the cheats within the game.
