But I have a friend who's father collects guns, same as people collect stamps (why people collect stamps is mind boggling but they do). He has some older guns like those flintlock rifles from the olden days and even some really nice assault rifles. However he only has the guns, he doesn't buy the ammo or any of that. It is just something that has fascinated him so he collects them.
And I know another friend whose father has a lot of guns. My friends grandfather was a hunter and had a decent, like 5-7, hunting guns. When he died, his son (my friends dad) ended up taking them.
People can own guns for more reasons than murder or self-defense. Some people like to hunt, some people like to collect them, some people could have inherited them and keep them as mementos.
