Well my history might be off but that's how Hitler took over. But imagine it a guy comes out of nowhere, runs for office, and promises a whole bunch of good stuff. He wins office, pulls through on most of the promises(at the expense of the taxpayer), and establishes gun control improvements "for safety". Then there are lots of gun buy backs and eventually guns are made illegal(at this point there aren't a lot left anyway). Also going on is a lot of other things but I'm just gonna focus on the guns. Then after the guns are bought back and made illegal the president lets(and assists) another country invade. It's soo much easier to invade a country where the citizens don't have guns. It's the main reason that the only country in Europe Hitler didn't target was Switzerland. Because in Switzerland every adult citizen(I think) must own a gun.

Do you really think any President in the present is going to assist on a country invasion? (excludes Korea)

Even though I don't fully agree with your arguments, I had to like your post because it was the biggest post you've made in a long time.

That isn't the longest I've made on mobile though. I once wrote a Batman script. Anyway I just see it like that because that's pretty much how Hitler took over.

I can't really mention Hitler because I've learned nothing about him. If later on in the year we learn about him and this thread is still active (unlikely), I could mention Hitler.

Yeah Hitler was a political genius. He took over countries and made the people love him.

I don't think love was the right word. Maybe fear is what you were looking for.

And that really has nothing to do with how he took over, he spread his ideology and made scapegoats out of a large group of people.

Government buying back guns from citizens does not equal Hitler taking over.
I do not understand what path of logic you took to get that outcome.

Or any of your logic in general.

I support the buyback strategy, it reduces the amount of guns in the country and it does it smartly by paying people for them.

Why are there so many Lugers? If anything people should have more guns.

KoC? What is the point of owning more than 20 handguns? 19 will just stay in some cupboard or box. If you owned 20 handguns, would you keep them in a box or exchange them for at least $500?

No I mean more people should own guns. Like 2 or 3 for the average person.

It has more point than owning a ton of action figures, pipes, lighters, stamps, etc. Some people could just collect them - But at least collecting guns gives you more choice of how to murder someone. Choices are important.
I ain't about to throw a dozen action figures at someone in order to kill 'em.

Dear God people GUNS AREN'T JUST FOR KILLING!!! I'd say 95% of gun owners never shoot someone with them.

^For once something you said might have some shred of accuracy to it.

But I have a friend who's father collects guns, same as people collect stamps (why people collect stamps is mind boggling but they do). He has some older guns like those flintlock rifles from the olden days and even some really nice assault rifles. However he only has the guns, he doesn't buy the ammo or any of that. It is just something that has fascinated him so he collects them.
And I know another friend whose father has a lot of guns. My friends grandfather was a hunter and had a decent, like 5-7, hunting guns. When he died, his son (my friends dad) ended up taking them.

People can own guns for more reasons than murder or self-defense. Some people like to hunt, some people like to collect them, some people could have inherited them and keep them as mementos.

And let's not forget target shooting. It's incredibly fun to shoot at Tannerite. Tactical weapons are freaking sweet. By the way unless it's fully automatic it's called a carbine not an assault rifle.

I don't think we have target shooting in Australia.
