Who is the most famous serial killer that lived near you? When I lived in London, England it was Dennis Nilsen who was also known as the Muswell Hill Murderer. He murdered at least 12 young men in a series of killings committed between 1978 and 1983. Nilsen slaughtered rent boys and cooked them in the kitchen, he was only caught when neighbors complained about the smell coming from the drains and when it was investigated human rotting human remains were discovered.

I can't name him because then you'd know what town I'm from. The guy killed like 8 people across 3 states. One of his victims was found in the parking lot of my local grocery store. He's in prison I believe.

balthiersbit, are we talking about Franco the Spanish dictator? I wouldn't call him a serial killer, he comes under tyrant like Hitler and Mussollini. Tenerife's famous serial killer was Dámaso Rodríguez Martín 'El Brujo'. In 1991 he was responsible for three murders in the Anaga mountain area.

Well about 3 or 4 years ago, some guy came to my town and killed like two of his relatives then fled. Not sure if they ever got him...

No idea nightmare2. Apparently there's a serial killer on the loose in Manchester, England who has killed 61 people by pushing them into the canals there.

We had a serial killer (believe it or not) in a suburb near the city. 3 women were killed I believe, and he was never caught.

Me I work in a super maximum security prison so I get to work with serial killers every day. However the one who lived close to me would be a man called Allan Leger. He was convicted of murder in 1986 I do believe if memory serves me right. He escaped prison in 1989 and killed 5 jurors would helped convicted him in 1986.

Zelda Fan, just read about the Canadian serial killer Allan Legere you were refering to who escaped Atlantic Institution maximum security penitentiary in Renous-Quarryville. That is one tricky customer the way he escaped, reminds me of Hannibal Lecter. I wonder how long it is before Hollywood make a movie about the 'Monster of the Miramichi' as he is known.

That's correct Dennis. It's because of people like him is why correctional officers here in Canada are now armed with guns in medium and maximum security prisons. Had officers been armed back then he would of been shot dead and wouldn't of murdered and terrorized anyone. Making a movie is the last thing we need. I know you're right and it could make a good film but I'm not a fan of giving these monsters the attention they want; however there is a documentary about him on YouTube if you are interested in watching it.

Yeah, I just noticed it, I'll probably watch it tonight. You're right now thinking about it, making movies about these killers is not a good idea.

But aren't Canadian guards limited to .38 revolvers?

We use the following:

- the H&K P2000 pistol in 9mm (variant 5, which is Double-action only (DAO), trigger pull of 36 N (8.1 lbf) (±3 N))
- the Colt AR-15 carbine in 9mm (for urban armed towers and internal armed posts)
- the Colt AR-15 rifle in .223 (for non-urban armed towers)
- the Remington 870 pump-action shotgun in 12-gauge (used for riot suppression, perimeter control, and other armed posts)

Besides the HK that's pretty standard. I have an old police 870 Wingmaster. They don't make them like they used to
