Redesign?

The forums should get a redesign. I just came back from 3 years to find a sorta ... dead forum, to be blunt. When I first came back, I found the site was sorta hard to maneuver around in, and I couldnt exactly find the forums. It shouldnt be under the more section, I find it should get its own, alongside the games, guides.. etc. I think thats what could be turning guests off from the forums? Maybe just the way its all designed?

What do suggest redesigning in the forums though? The Video Game Boards are broad and hard to follow, but you can easily find what you are looking for using the search bar within.

The popular forums that show up, I'm not sure how that works, but I think it should be reduced with how many forums show up... maybe down to 10. You cannot see the console General boards.

I'd propose get rid of the General boards and create them into categories for the game forums. Like it use to be, or at least I remember it that way.

Say I clicked Xbox One boards... takes me to all the available Xbox One video game forums... that might be some work though...

Id have to have some time back here to form an opinion but yeah. Forums should pop out and I find that the whole little bar that follows you when you scroll down should either not be there, or be bigger. I wouldnt mind scrolling back up to click somewhere else. Also, I have no idea howd this work but have like a main forum that you can click a little plus on a certain forum and expand it into more sub forums? I havent slept in a day so my ideas might not be making sense but I'll come back and give a more concise idea.
EDIT: Or if you hover over the newly added FORUM tab, itll show you a bunch of popular forums?

I liked this so much better. But I'm a oldie.

Oh god. I find that 2011 looked the best. It doesnt HAVE to be exactly like it, but a more touched up version would look really nice.

Even that looks pretty good. Anything to reduce the clutter.. Theres too many buttons everywhere.

I like the dark style theme I use, but wish it looked like that style. This can easily look like that, even keeping these updates.

2011's style was 10 / 10. Isn't that when they hired a professional designer to format the place? Because this place was a sexy beast back then.

Quite possibly? I liked the navigation bar then, everything is right there. It still is but you have to hover and drop down menu's.

Too much for the worse. Mark should rehire the same guy and ask for a revamp of some sorts of the 2011 layout lol.

Layout looks good, just need to back up a lot of these changes.

How did it look in 2011? Because imo the 2006 design looks too plain and bland. I don't see a need to change back to an older design.

Ah the rose tinted history.
It will be very tricky to go back to that design, or anything similar. But with some improvements to the forums structure and some tweaks to the layout we can make things more simple as you have said.
Thanks Aeon and others for the recent suggestions. We will have to compile a list of the general ideas and see what we can get sorted.

I just changed the header, background, and special event colors.

Literally took me 20 minutes and 7 class changes in the main CSS.

I personally miss the dark Red layout. I liked having those options.

The only thing that I would change personally for me is how jittery it is. I have to wait for the ads to come up as the page moves 2 o 3 times before settling down.
