Its not fair, I dont get to watch GB in all their glory I get to see Spain celebrating their 5 pitiful golds

Luckily I can pick up the BBC with my dish in Barcelona otherwise I'd be relegated to watching reruns of canoeing and swimming like you on the Spanish channels.

Well I have to say that was a good show. There was some crime reported and some problems with rubbish in the water and clearly some ticket issues. But I was really worried that there would be more serious issues and accidents happening. I guess it helped that GB did well but I enjoyed what i managed to see of the games. Shame a lot of it was on way past my bed time, but not hard to catch up on it.

Tokyo, Japan in 2020 should be good, especially their opening ceremony which will probably involve Sumos, Giesha Girls, Ninjas, and Samurais and lots of colour in the shape of fans and umbrellas. I still think London 2012 has had the best opening ceremony so far with it's walk through British history and the Queen entering the stadium by parachute.

The Japanese PM appearing as Mario at the Rio closing ceremony has got to be a sign of good things to come in Tokyo. Will it be better than the Bond / Queen parachute jump? Hard to say.

http://www.totalsportek.com/news/olympic-gold-medal-prize-money/

Found this kind of interesting. Singapore gives gold medal winners (757,000 USD Equivalency), while UK, Sweeden, and Brazil offer 0.

Looks like 1 athlete cashed out in Singapore by winning a Gold. Weird on how smaller, less established countries are willing to shell out more for winning. Although athletes representing US/Britain etc... probably earn a great deal through sponsorship.

This is an interesting video showing you how each sport and its athletes are evolving over time.
