Selfies

Just wondering why there is no selfie topic or is that against the rules? A shame if it is as it would be nice to have some idea what the person you're trading posts with looks like.

Selfies are mostly a mobile thing. It's not incredibly easy to get a picture from a phone to here.

If that little image upload box was still around, more people would probably provide selfies here.

It would be nice being able to put a face to a name, the only thing that worries me about it though is it might gain the attention of sexual predators in which case it is not worth the risk. Have to see what Rich and Mark say...

...Considering the general age of those that frequent this forum, I think any sexual advances would fall less under the stigma of sexual predation, and more under that of a booty call.

If I told Nikki she had a nice rack, I doubt she'd consider me a predator.

I don't think Nikki considers anyone a predator for saying something like that.

Selfies are a waste of internet traffic. you dont need to know what someone looks like to have a good conversation with them

When I say selfies I'm talking about a headshot like you would see in a passport.

I have no need to take selfies. Plus I look terrible in photos no matter how hard I try to be normal.

Lol, I'm not talking about everyone taking hundreds of selfies to post on SuperCheats, I'm talking about one selfie per member which would if they wanted appear on their posts maybe next to their signature at the bottom.

We used to have a thread in GC called What do you look like

So I dont think there is any problem in doing what Dennis proposes, besides if you don't want to post a selfie you just don't do it.

And yes....I do have a nice rack, thank you.

Overall, I think it depends on what direction you guys want the site to take. Do you want it to be a posting grounds for early teens to young adults, or a hub for adults? If the latter, then I think a selfie thread is fine. I don't know if I would want to encourage younger kids to upload pictures.

I think these days it should be a welcoming site to any age. Most of the staff are waaaaay over 21 so we can detect a bad apple if a one shows up.

Besides we had a thread where people posted selfies and no one complained.

Ehhh I don't take selfies I do "photoshoots" to look hotter. My friend and I will do it for each other. I should upload one, I'm going to try find that one where you can't see my face haha.

I see your point! To continue playing devils advocate, what if instead the thread was only view-able by people who themselves have posted a selfie, or who have reached a certain milestone (i.e, 1k posts, x likes, etc).

I don't have any weird thing for anonymity, but sometimes brainstorming these things leads to good ideas.

That is a good point, creating threads for certain members or people at a certain coutn, or members only.

Having the profile selvie only viewable by members who reach a certain number of posts is a good idea, I like that idea a lot. And if it could also have an option where if the member reaches the milestone and really didn't want their face to be seen they could click a box to turn the feature off.

SuperCheats Rule #892b: If it's a good idea that requires a root admin to program, don't hold your breath.

By saying it's a good idea, you're making it less likely to happen. You have to make it seem like such a bad idea that it's never brought up in the first place. Then, and only then, it has the slightest chance of being programmed within the next decade or two.
