Yes Matt, I also have a feeling Detroit will do well, at least make the playoffs, not sure about winning the Super Bowl but they are definately going in the right direction.
I'm also becoming a bit of a fan of Cleveland, I find myself drawn to seeing how they are performing as I think they are a team that will go from 0-16 to 6-10 to 10-6 and Super Bowl contenders in a matter of three or four years. Their defense is starting to look good with all those first and second round draft picks they've had in recent years. We haven't even seen Mayfield the no1 pick in the whole of the 2018 draft throw a ball yet and they've just held the Steelers to a draw which is amazing really when you thing about how bad the Browns were last year. You have to wonder how much of a talisman Mayfield is going to be for that team, I see him bringing a winning attitude to the locker room which the other players around him will buy into. Pretty much the same what Brady did in New England.
Considering Tyrod Taylor went 15/40, it's impressive that they were even close, yet alone tieing that game. The thing is that this is Cleveland we're talking about, so lets not get excited just yet. I remember reading that a while back, a Houston team started the season 2-0 but went on to lose 14 consecutive games for 2-14. We also don't know how good or bad Pittsburgh will be this season. They were lucky to make playoffs last time.
Imo, it all depends on whether Mayfield makes it as a starter. If Cleveland can break their QB curse, that will be key for their success, but if he is a bust, who will fill the void?

I didn't see that coming, Matthew Stafford throwing 4 interceptions and Detroit going down to the lowly Jets. I was just looking at the offensive stats for the game and although Sam Darnold had a decent game throwing for 2 touchdowns in his debut most of the 48 points are a result of Staffords interceptions and a punt return for a touchdown. The Jets scored 31 points in the 3rd quarter!!!
I still think LA Rams will win the Super Bowl this year, they look good...
Yeah Darnold went well, especially since his first ever pass was a pick-6! After that he was very solid and easily outplayed Stafford.
On paper LA Rams are indeed the best team in the NFL, and while I rate them quite highly, when Gurley is shut down Goff plays horribly.
Looking ahead, Miami have to travel to face NY Jets next week... It's going to be a tough game to predict, and for now I'll keep my pick concealed. Washington get a home game against Indy, which should be an easy win. They have a very tough schedule, so a 2-0 start is absolutely necessary.
I see plenty of optimism for both our teams after week 1. Miami's running game when used, was very effective, and Tannehill had an encouraging 20/28 for 230 yards, 2TDs, despite 2INTs. Picking off the QBs 3 times is good too. Smith was 21/30 for 255 yards, 2TDs and no INTs, but it was the running game (Peterson 96 yards, Thompson 5 carries for 65 yards) that was promising.

Yes Matt I agree, the Redskin running attack does look good, the key running back is Chris Thompson. While everyone is looking at Peterson Thompson does the damage by slipping out of the backfield unnoticed. Having Jordan Ried back healthy gives Alex Smith another decent target. I'm still not sold on the wide recievers though to be honest. It's the running backs and tight ends that will carry the Redskins this year.
Maybe management will start believing in Tannenhill if he consistantly plays well and talk of Miami getting another quarterback goes away. It can't be nice playing for a team knowing you are not wanted.
What will save Tannehill will be reducing turnovers. If you take away the 2INTs he played a great game, but those hurt. It's lucky that Matt Cassel threw one himself right after Tannehill's 2nd. The good teams will punish turnovers (LA Rams killed Oakland every time). During his impressive run 2 seasons ago from weeks 5-14 he had a 7-1 W-L record and threw only 4INTs in those 8 matches, with 3 of them coming in one match.
I think he also needs one breakout game of 350+ yards with no turnovers. A single game to make people take notice. He typically doesn't pass for huge numbers. Imagine if he does a Fitzpatrick (417 yards, 4TDs, 1 rushing TD, 0INTs)?

Ryan Fitzpatrick? The same guy who played for St. Louis, Cincinnati, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, and New York Jets. He gives new meaning to the word 'journeyman'. He's got a 156 quarterback rating at the moment, how much do you want to bet it will be below 90 at the end of the season. One game wonder, that's probably the best game he will ever play in the NFL.
All the time Tannenhill gets the win he'll keep the critics off his back, as soon as he strings together three or four losses the heat will be back on Miami management to get rid of him.
All the buzz from the experts seems to be having Miami as the worst team in the NFL, and getting the #1 draft pick. Tannehill has an uphill battle...
And yes I agree Fitzpatrick will digress and will get benched come week 4, but what I meant is that having a one game wonder can create a lot of good. There are rumours spreading that Fitzpatrick may keep the starting job, even though he is a backup QB. If Tannehill can have a one game wonder, people will take notice and as you say, he'll keep the critics off his back.
A perfect comparison is how in the EPL before the season started Watford were predicted to finish 18th and get relegated, but 4 weeks later they are in 3rd place with 4 wins from 4 games, and people are calling them the new Leicester. They'll likely drop to the bottom half of the table, but they've created a huge buzz. Tannehill needs to create a buzz and get the Miami organisation thinking "this guy actually has serious potential". That won't just release the pressure, but may also save his job.

Well, Week 1 was definitely interesting. Giants could've and probably should've defeated the Jaguars. Saints, Steelers, and Falcons all laid an egg. Stafford and Carr (and Keenum for the most part) looked like they shouldn't be making the big bucks. Bucs and jets surprised, but I doubt they will go all that far. The Pats and the Pack did as they should have, while a few other upsets (Bengals, Redskins, Chiefs) also happened.
As for the Dolphins... They might be in serious trouble. We only beat the Titans because their whole team was falling part. Mariota went out with an elbow injury, and they also lost their starting LT and TE. And yet, Miami could only defeat the Blaine Gabbert Lead Titans by a TD. If the Jets are still humming from Monday, the Phins are walking straight into a buzzsaw.
Have my picks made up already, will probably post them tonight. A few upsets, but still went with ten home teams and six road teams. The Phins better win.
You can only beat who you play. Not saying Miami will be SB champs, but remember last season everyone said Philly would go nowhere because they hadn't beaten anyone good. If we don't do a stupid 4th down call early, and if Tannehill doesn't throw that end-zone INT, that's a 33-20 win. There are a lot of positives from that game despite it being an ugly win. God, look at how ugly Philly's win was. I don't think Miami are "in serious trouble", but I think they'll lose next week.
Ouch. Next week is going to be TOUGH to do tips for.

Just had a look at the Miami Dolphins schedule and to be honest it's an easy one. Apart from going to New England in week 4, Green Bay in week 10, and Minnesota in week 15 I think they have a decent chance of winning all the other games. Obviously not all of them but an 8-8 record isn't out of the question, I don't think the Dolphins are as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
As for Philadelphia, Super Bowl champions have a track record of performing badly the following year whilst the team that got knocked out in the championship rounds tends to come back with a vengence after just missing out on the big game. I don't think Philadelphia will do much this year, they will be relying on their defense to keep them in games. I don't see them having the same hunger to win as they did last year.
New England x2 - LL NY Jets x2 - LW Buffalo x2 - WW Tennessee - Win @ Houston - L Jacksonville - L @ Indy - W Oakland - W @ Cincy - L @ Green Bay - L @ Minnesota - L Detroit - L Chicago - W I see a 7-9 record coming up.
I agree about Philly. What motivation will they have this season?
Just did my tips. Like Warrior I went with 10 home teams. I had only 2 upsets this week, but was very tempted to go for Detroit.

That Dez Bryant is an idiot, the guy was offered contracts from the Browns and Ravens and he turned them down because they weren't 'championship calibre' teams and instead tweets to the Patriots and Redskins offering his services. The Patriots obviously because they are in the mix for a Super Bowl each year and the Redskins because they play in the NFC East and it gives him an opportunity to play against the Cowboys twice a year, the team that cut him. Anyway, the Patriots quickly responded saying they weren't interested and thankfully the Redskins did the same even though the team has three injured wide recievers. Unless a team suddenly calls him up out of the blue Dez Bryants NFL career is over.
I have 11 home game wins for week 2, I've gone for the Dolphins against New York but I don't feel comfortable with it mainly I guess because they are playing away. I'm bascially hoping Tannenhill has a good game and the Dolphins defense make Darnold do rookie mistakes the offense can capitalise on.
Yep, Dez is the clear cut 'locker room cancer'. He used to be a fantastic player alongside that attitude, but now that he's lost the x-factor, he's just an average WR with a huge ego. Generally teams want senior players for their experience and knowledge/guidance. Dez is not the guy you want to pass on good habits to young players. It's similar to the Kaepernick situation. He is clearly good enough to make an NFL team and possibly even be a starter, but it's just not worth is since there will be bad consequences for the team who signs him (bad media attention etc).
I agree the Miami @ NY Jets game will come down to how Darnold handles himself. He was known for throwing INTs and fumbling in college. Miami have several players on defense capable of having multiple INTs, so the key is to make life hell for Darnold.

There's talk that Le 'Veon Bell is going to be traded to the Packers. If that happens you have to say Green Bay will be one of the most dangerous teams in the NFL. I bet there's plenty of Minnesota, Detroit, and Chicago fans out there hoping that trade never happens. The other team interested in getting Bell if he can't sort out his differences with the Steelers is the 49rs, they'd also would suddenly become a dangerous team if they accquired his services. As for the Steelers, I think the team is on the slide, they're not the dominant team of a few years ago. They can't afford to lose Bell, if they did you'd have to say the Ravens will become top dogs with Cleveland quickly closing the gap.
Nope. I would've agreed with you until their performance against the primetime chokers. Cincy were destroying them , with the score initially 21-0 and then 28-7. Dalton had 4TDs before HT! Baltimore actually pulled to within 5 after a failed 2-point conversion, but ultimately it was too steep. Like Detroit, I thought before the season that Cincy had a lot of potential and could make playoffs, so I'm not completely surprised that they're 2-0, but it's the fact that they 1) got a lead and held onto it, and 2) won a primetime game that impresses me. With Le'Veon Bell surely leaving Pittsburgh (either he should leave or PIT should kick him out), they are in decline, and Cleveland aren't ready to take the division. Pittsburgh will win a lot of games, but I think it's either Baltimore or Cincy who will win the AFC North.
To expand on Bell, he is also a locker room cancer. I would get him the heck out of my club if he refused to play games and refused millions of dollars because it's not enough. Connor is a capable RB, and had well over 100 yards against Cleveland. With the rebuild coming in a year or two, it's time to get rid of him and bring in new, fresh players to play behind Mason Rudolph.

Wow, the Ravens played the Bengals last night and lost! I didn't know that, I had the Ravens winnng that one in our competition. The Bengals are now 2-0, that's twice this season I've picked against them and lost. I better do some research and find out why they are winning games all of a sudden, and putting up thirty plus points, they're doing something right.
The Ravens, who just put up forty against the Bills, looked sluggish from the start. On top of that, Flaaco looked like he didn?t care about winning for most of the match, especially near the end when it was out of reach. They were down eleven with 2:30 to go. In that situation, you have to throw near the sidelines to stip the clock on every play. But no, Flaaco kept checking down in the middle of the field. They didn?t even score a field goal on that last possession; the time expired before they could go do the field and score some points. Harbough looked like he was gonna flip.
Joe Flaco threw for 376 yards and a couple of Touchdowns. He sounds like another Kirk Cousins, great stats but doesn't win games when faced with adversity. I guess that's what makes Brady and Rogers so great. You're right, that game looked winable by the Ravens if they had of had better time management in the fourth quarter, they were definately the better team in the second half and had the momentum. If it hadn't of been for the slow start the Ravens could have easily won that game. I guess they thought they were still playing Buffalo who they destroyed the previous week.
