I can't see how the Redskins can possibly win that game in their current state. Useless quarterback who hasn't played for a couple of years and doesn't know the plays, no decent wide recievers for him to throw to anyway. A geriatric running back who can't string two good games together and seeing as last week was a good week he's due a bad one this week. The Redskins defense is decent though so I'm expecting a low scoring 17-10 kind of game with the Giants winning on the strength of Barkley's running. It's a big ask trying to contain Barkley twice in a season. The Redskins are on the slide, they've lost their last three games, this is number four.
If both teams were healthy though it would be a different story...
I think I'm going to get all the games right this week, I've looked at each game several times and feel happy with all my picks.
I'll still go with NY Giants. I was tempted to change, but changing picks is a very bad thing to do, and I've already changed NE @ MIA. But then I remembered that Mark Sanchez is the QB. Also, Washington have 5 possible new injuries...

No, still sticking with N.Y. Giants, There?s a reason why Mark Sanchez, has played for five teams as is out of the NFL. I get the feeling Jay Gruden has given up on this season. He was asked by the media why he didn?t call Colin Kapernick for a trial and he said there was no point as there were only four games left in the season. I think the Redskins are going to tank the rest of the season so they get a higher position in the draft.
Not sure what the Giants are up to, they?ve suddenly started winning and they?ve got no hope of reaching post season play.
Tonight?s Redskins vs Giants game is going to be the Manning/Barkley show.
Fair enough if they tank. As long as they make it look like they're not, it's the right thing to do regardless of whether they select a QB. Even if they somehow managed a miracle and got the #6 seed, they would instantly be destroyed by Dallas/Chicago in the playoffs. When I did my projected standings for all teams last week, I had Washington finishing 7-9. But if they lose this week, that will change to 6-10.
There are a large number of QBs in this season's draft. Only a few are projected to be 1st round picks, so that means teams like Miami and Washington can pick young defensive talent in the 1st, and a QB in the 2nd. Washington have Smith and McCoy as options, and Miami look more and more likely to keep Tannehill on for another season.
Eli Manning wants to keep playing beyond this season, and he's sending a message to the Giants organisation. The plan was that he would get benched around this point of the season so they could try out their backup, but he has other ideas. You'd think that the rest of the team has probably jumped on board and are playing for Eli. After all, remember the chaos last season when they benched Eli and broke his consecutive starts streak? That lasted 1 game, and members of staff were fired instantly.
About this game, it's not going to be an easy Giants win anymore. I admit they should pull through, but Eli is going to struggle against the decent Washington D. With Beckham out, he'll have very few WRs to pass to. This will be the Barkley only show.
Miami's best and elite CB Xavien Howard is out of the game, meaning Miami's pass D has become non-existent. THIS is why I changed by tip.

That?s annoying, I was debating whether to take Miami after Warrior13 told us Brady was 1-5 in December against Miami in Miami. I just didn?t t feel confident backing against Brady. Anyway he?s now 1-6.Well done the Dolphins, I?m always happy seeing the Patriots dropping a game.
Looks like we are all picking the same games again this week so another early night. I?m surprised the Jets won, and despite the score line the Saints looked iffy in the first half against the Buccaneers as did the Chiefs who scraped past the Ravens.
Thank God Sanchez got benched, he was worse than hopeless in the first half against the Giants. This Josh Johnson guy threw for a couple Touchdowns and looked half decent in the second half even if he is a journeyman who has played for about twenty NFL clubs and has a career rating of a whopping 56%. He?s definitely the fastest quarterback in the league with a 4.3 40, that?s faster than Barkley. It came in handy as he has no decent blockers in front of him and receivers who are not even average by NFL standards. Looks like Dallas are having the last laugh trading for Amari Cooper.
Well done being brave enough to pick Cleveland Dennis! You are winning this week, and we're back level again.
Buffalo somehow choked to NY Jets of all teams, just 1 week after dominating Miami. Allen's passing game must improve. Carolina are in freefall, and they must win out to even have a small chance of playoffs. Mayfield was back to his best (18/22 at 82%, 1TD 0INTs), and he and Cleveland are playing much better at home than away. Green Bay destroyed Atlanta. Atlanta scored twice in garbage time; don't let the score fool you. They are also in freefall and surely tanking. Indy broke Houston's winning streak, and are right back in the playoffs hunt. But boy oh boy, they now regret losing to Jacksonville... If Houston had beaten Indy today, they would've been near certainties to hold onto a 1st week bye. Kansas City came back from 17-24 down on 4th and 9, winning 27-24 in overtime. There's no doubt they're regressing. They need to improve very quickly, or they'll be one and done in playoffs. I'll get onto this one down below ;) You're right, New Orleans were very sloppy. They were down 3-14 at half time too. They too need to improve. Washington got utterly destroyed. A 16-40 loss seems bad, but before garbage time it was 0-40! Eli didn't struggle at all (3TDs 0INTs). Now Washington are onto their 4th QB in 5 weeks... LA Chargers were sloppy too... You cannot let Cincy, without their QB and WR, and while you're playing at home, get to within 2 points before you kick a FG. ...What?!?! Well, Denver's playoff hopes are deservedly over. They lost 14-20, but it was 0-20 at half time... Can things get any worse for poor CJ? Mullens finally has a bad game, but he stays in and passes for 440 and 330 yards in 2 weeks... Detroit won an ugly, meaningless game against Arizona. Dallas beat Philly in overtime 29-23. Strangely enough, that exact scoreline, also in OT, happened 2 seasons ago. Dak, despite 2INTs to go with his 2TDs, passed for 440 yards... Pittsburgh easily beat the tanking Raiders, and stopped their form slump. Wow. They choked a 14-10 3QT lead, and missed a game-tying 40-yard FG with 5 seconds left... Their next 2 games are against New England (coming off a loss) and then New Orleans... Chicago have just stunned LA Rams, winning 15-6 and keeping them to 0TDs. Goff threw 0TDs and 4INTs. Warrior, read my custom title right now
What about Miami! Their general defense was a cakewalk as predicted, but their red zone defense was fantastic. At the end of the first half, they stopped NE on a 3rd down and hence made them run out of time. They couldn't kick the FG, which would've gave them the win. Then later in the 4th quarter they stopped them several times and forced a FG. And with 18 seconds left, they had to kick yet another FG. But really, this was an NE choke job. They missed an XP, and 2 FGs. If they kick those, and don't run out of time at the end of the first half, they win 43-27 (Miami wouldn't bothered scoring that last TD in that circumstance).
But the real screw up was putting Gronk on defense on the game-winning play. If there was a real defender, they stop Kenyan Drake 5 yards out. The NE defense in general was pretty bad also. They put good pressure on and sacked Tannehill a couple of times, but when Tannehill found time and managed to pass, he was better than Brady. Generally to beat NE you need to win in a low-scoring slugfest or a shootout, so credit to him and the team for making the most of their chances and scoring 5TDs and no FGs.

Believe it or not, my one cousin is 13-2 this week. However, he's been picking upsets for weeks now trying to catch up. He started this wee 27 games back of me.
With this week, I believe the two of you now would be second overall in my family's picks if you were included. Not too bad considering how weird the last month or so has been. ;)
I have the Vikings, I didn?t realise they were the underdog. They are in a must win situation now that Chicago has beaten the Rams and I think their passing game will put the points on the board to win a Close game. I could be wrong though...
I think it's a minor upset, but just because they're on the road. Should be close, both teams need it just to stay in the Wild Card Race.
Pete Carroll definitely should be the Coach of the Year. No one thought the Seahawks would be any good this year, and he'll probably get them into the playoffs. I get Nagy has Chicago on the up, but that division has been so disappointing this year.
I thought Seattle wouldn't be as bad as people thought they'd be, but I didn't think they'd make playoffs; let alone dominate average teams and beat good teams. They are currently beating Minnesota 21-0! It was only 3-0 at 3QT, but Seattle got a FG, stopped Minnesota on 4th & 1 at SEA 1, blocked a MIN FG, scored an 8pt TD, and got a fumble-6 from Kirk Cousins being sacked.
Cousins is now 0-7 on Monday Night Football...
Minnesota will make playoffs simply based on the fact the NFC is very weak. They'll be 6-6-1 after this, and the contenders to beat them are Carolina (6-7, on a 5-game losing streak, and play New Orleans twice in 3 weeks), Philly (6-7, SB hangover), Washington (6-7, 4th QB in 5 weeks), and Green Bay (5-7-1, too far back). It's amazing that in pre-season we were saying how strong the NFC is, and that the AFC is easy to play in.
It's nice to hear that me and Dennis are still doing well. On the tipping website we were ranked pretty high considering, but it's hard to judge against random users. We are pretty good tippers, but you're just in a league of your own Lonely Master.
Seattle eventually won 21-7, with Minnesota scoring in garbage time.

How the hell did Seattle win that game, they only passed for 72 yards and rushed for 90. Cousins as per usual can?t win the important games, I should have known better...
Their rushing game went well enough, but it was a combination of great play by the Seattle defense and crucial Minnesota mistakes. Minnesota failed on a 4th & 1 at SEA 40 and a 4th & 1 at SEA 1, missed a FG which would've brought the score to 3-6, and lost a fumble-6 immediately after going down 0-14 to kill the game at 0-21. The crazy thing is that it could've been 0-28; Wilson threw a pick at MIN 1 to end the first half.
Don't know what's happened to Minnesota. We all agreed they wouldn't match the level from 2017/18, but they're worse than average right now. Chicago must be laughing right now knowing they will be hosting this team come playoffs. Like you say Cousins proves yet again that he can't win a big game. Last season in the average Washington team, he won @ Seattle 17-14 and led a clutch game-winning TD drive. The difference? That was in daytime.

Like you pointed out Matt, Cousins is now 7-0 on Monday Night Football. Perhaps he has some kind of vision problem throwing in the dark or the thought of the whole of America watching him perform is just too much pressure for him. God help the Vikings if they reach the Super Bowl as the second half is played when the sun goes down. Perhaps Washington figured this out LOL.
For the long-term it was probably better getting rid of Cousins, but he's still a handy QB. Imagine if Washington had signed him and had him all of this season? There's no doubt in my mind Washington would be making playoffs. If they can draft a good QB then it will have been worth it, but if they get a dud, it may go down in history as one of the worst free agency losses.
It's strange with Cousins. He generally goes well on Sunday Night Football, but play him on Thursdays or Mondays, and he is average. Maybe he'll win a SB after all, since playoff games are on Saturdays and Sundays lol. Of the 3 primetime slots, Sunday is probably the least important, so it's probably that the pressure gets to him. But boy oh boy he takes a lot of sacks in primetime though.
This is all Minnesota's fault though. They threw away Case Keenum like he was the trash and payed Cousins a ridiculous amount in guaranteed money, and while I say he's handy, he's nowhere near an elite player.

#1 - New Orleans: 14-2 Carolina: 7-9 Tampa Bay: 6-10 Atlanta: 5-11
#2 - LA Rams: 14-2 #5 - Seattle: 11-5 Arizona: 3-13 San Francisco: 3-13
The playoff race in the NFC is as good as over. The battle for #1 between New Orleans and LA Rams could be interesting if one team slips up like LA did yesterday, but apart from that all other teams should be set. The AFC is very interesting however, and there's a big shock. Pittsburgh are finally going to miss the playoffs, and a victory against Cincy in week 17 can't even save them. They must beat one of New England or New Orleans, otherwise they're done. Baltimore are going to take the division and break their playoff drought. Kansas City will easily get #1, and there'll be pressure on New England not to slip up next week against PIT, otherwise Houston may overtake them. LA Chargers will easily get #5, and Tennessee should do enough, even with an upset loss to NY Giants. What is very interesting though, is that I have Miami losing @ Buffalo in week 17. If Miami were to lose next week @ Minnesota, win vs Jacksonville the next, and win @ Buffalo, they may be able to get the #6 seed.
~ Sometimes people change, but sometimes you just open your eyes & realise who they truly are ~
I see things going down a lot like you do, Matt. I doubt Miami will defeat Minnesota this week. We really need to win in order to make the playoffs, but I just don't see it happening. If we somehow defeat the Vikings, I think we will take the Bills in the final week. If we don't, I see us losing both.
Pittsburgh, on the other hand, I actually see making the Playoffs and not the Titans. The Titans have a much easier schedule, but the Giants are mucho en fuego at the moment. The Saints are another team I'm not sure about, especially since they play Carolina twice in three weeks. It's tough to defeat any opponent twice in the same year... especially against a divisional rival... all the more so in a three week time span...
Also, I actually see Minnesota winning out. I know they've looked horrible, but they have us at home next week and the Lions the following week. I also see them defeating the Bears at the end of the year, but that primarily has to do with me thinking that game will mean nothing for the Bears. The Bears are presently two games behind both the Saints and Rams, and if both of those teams win the next two weeks in a row, the final game will mean nothing to Chicago since they will be the #3 Seed either way. (I have similar feelings with the Cowboys in Week 17.)
That's fair with CHI @ MIN. I forgot about that. However depending, Chicago may still be playing for the #3 seed over Dallas. I believe Dallas will have the tiebreaker based on divisional record if they end up tied, assuming Chicago lose to a divisional opponent Minnesota in week 17 and slip up this week. The #3 seed will host Minnesota, while the #4 seed has to host Seattle.
I agree too with Miami. We're 1-5 away from home so I doubt we can beat Minnesota, but if we do lose as I predict, there's still some hope. Indy cannot reach 9-7, otherwise they'll have the H2H tiebreaker, and Tennessee need to lose a game. I predict them being upset by NY Giants, but if they pull through 10-6 will end our hopes. If TEN lose to Indy in week 17, it'll mean Indy should finish 9-7, so this can't happen either. tl;dr - Miami probably need 10-6, but with 9-7 they still have some chance.
I disagree with Pittsburgh. Last season they hosted NE after they had just lost @ Miami. This season they host NE after they just lost @ Miami. New England should get the job done. New Orleans will be playing to preserve their 1st week bye chances and also #1 seed chances, so when they host Pittsburgh I don't see them slipping up at home. This would leave Pittsburgh at 7-7-1, needing to beat Cincy*** to get to 8-7-1. But I think Baltimore will win 2/3 and finish 9-7. They should be able to beat Tampa Bay and Cleveland at home. In this case, I doubt 8-7-1 can get PIT a wildcard spot. Teams like Miami, Indy, & Tennessee are all big chances to finish ahead, and I doubt all will finish 8-8. *** - Remember last season in week 17, Cincy played spoiler on a last play TD to eliminate Baltimore from playoffs.

Looks like I'm going to have to take a few gambles in the next couple of weeks with my picks to have any chance of coming second in the competition.
I hear a rumour the Redskins are going to try and draft Oregans Justin Herbert. Personally I think they have no chance, he'll be gone as soon as the Giants get to pick. Drew Lock though is a possibility if Washington lose the next two games which is looking likely.
Alex Smith is finished, he's too old to come back. The Redskins need to look forward and maybe just keep Smith around as a mentor for whoever they pick up in the draft.
I don't think Miami will be too concerned at quarterback, that Tannenhill guy isn't too bad. The problem with Tannenhill is a middle of the pack quarterback with the price tag of a superstar. Seeing as how difficult it is to get a decent NFL quarterback these days I think the Dolphins will keep him, especially after beating the Patriots the other night with 14-19 passes for 265 yards and 3 Touchdowns. It doesn't get much better than that, plus it was against the Patriots of all teams.
