I would be okay with Rosen, especially if we gave up a second or third round pick for him. He won't make us that better next year, but we should see enough to decide if he is worth keeping or going with a 2020 Draft QB.
But I have a bad feeling the Patriots will trade for Rosen, especially if it only costs them a second or third rounder.
If I was the Giants, I would see if the Packers would want the #6 for #12 and #30. The Giants then could probably draft WR Metcalf or WR Brown at #12 to pair with Golden Tate, and then TE Fant or TE Hockenson at #17 that they receive from the Browns. They could then draft the best Tackle at #30 to put on the Right Side and complete their O-Line, giving away their second or third rounder for Rosen. Manning/Rosen/2020 QB + Saquon + Tate & Metcalf/Brown & Shepard + Ingram + Fant/Hockenson would be absolutely crazy to defend.
Looks like Bridgewater has signed with the Saints, you'll both be glad to know that his Miami visit didn't go well. Tate has signed with the Giants to replace Beckham. Clinton Ha Ha-Dix has signed with the Bears, I kind of knew the Redskins wouldn't be able to afford him. Looks like the Patriots are interested in Rosen, when Belichick is interested in a player you have to take note, especially at quarterback.
Redskins now have a hole to fill at saftey with the departure of Dix. That will probably be addressed at the draft along with wide reciever which to me looking at the depth chart is more of a need than quarterback at the moment, Josh Doctson the former number 1 draft pick has done nothing of note since joining the Redskins, the guy's always injured. Apart from him there is nobody else at that position who can start. Washington should have signed Tate and got a 1st round wide reciever in this years draft, apparently there are some talented ones in the 2019 draft.
No way Rosen goes to New England. The only way it would happen is for Brady to retire at the end of this season, and that's not happening any time soon. Rosen wouldn't want to sit on a bench for 16-48 games, and you wouldn't blame him.
I would love for Green Bay to trade up to pick 6. The reason being that it would be a terrible trade. They are far better off drafting 2 quality players than 1, since the defense still has several holes. That would be a dream move for NY Giants, but I doubt Green Bay are that stupid.
I have an even dreamier scenario for NY Giants. Trade away picks 6 & 17 to one or more desperate teams, and get future picks, while at the same time tanking with Eli as QB. Hypothetically, they could bait Washington into giving them their pick 15 and their 2020 1st rounder and sending pick 6 to them. Making other moves could potentially give NY Giants three 1st round picks (including a top 5 pick for a QB). It's highly unlikely, but similar to what you said Warrior, they have a lot of power this draft.
Dennis, simply it was Ha-Dix out and Collins in. Both are safeties.
Josh Doctson needs to go, along with all the injury-prone WRs at Washington. Could you imagine if they managed to draft two WRs in rounds 1 and 2 respectively? It would be a massive change for that position, but it's necessary. In the last 4 seasons, Washington have: Hosted a playoff game Narrowly missed playoffs Missed playoffs due to poor decisions/bad luck And missed playoffs due to countless injuries I have followed the NFL for 4 seasons now (entering a 5th), and Washington have always been close to being a playoff contender. I have also never seen Washington finish worse than 7-9. They are much closer to contending than most think.

Just a question, what on earth happened to Brock Osweiler, David Fales, and Bryce Petty? I just read that Miami only have 2 QBs on their roster, and they aren't any of thee 3...
This looks like a huge fire sale to me... So many good-average players are being traded away. Wake, Larsen, Tannehill, Gore.... I'll be stunned if we don't finish last in the entire AFC. If we do skip drafting a QB and instead go with a backup, the tank will be 100% complete, and the #1 pick will be heading to Miami.
I'm just waiting for the Stills rumors to come true and to receive a 6th round pick, and for us to (for no reason) trade Drake for a 4th round pick. Maybe they'll throw in Howard and Fitzpatrick for good measure...

Apparently Washington are in the market for a deep threat wide reciever and Stefon Diggs of the Minnesota Vikings keeps getting mentioned. With Jamison Crowder now gone wide receiver has suddenly become the most important position for the Redskins to fill.
Not sure what Miami are playing at, looks like they want to start their rebuilding program from scratch and are following Jimmy Johnsons blueprint and getting rid of all their current stars in the hop of possibly getting draft picks. I think the Raiders are currently doing the same as well, not sure how it will pan out for either team to be honest. Jimmy Johnson was a natural hustler who knew how to spot talent, Gruden for starters doesn't have either talent. Brian Flores, I don't know a lot about apart from he was a coach at the New England Patriots, lets just hope he's learn't a trick or two from Bill Belichick. I don't know if it is good or bad news but Colin Karpernick has been mentioned as the next starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins. Let's be honest Dolphins fans were spoiled when they had Dan Marino, greatest quarterback in the NFL never to win a Super Bowl, there hasn't been anyone in Miami since him that has been remotely close.
Stefon Diggs would be a great pickup. He knows how to come up clutch too (he caught Keenum's pass in the Minneapolis Miracle).
It's a pretty miserable time for my sporting teams. Miami are doing a complete rebuild, and Swansea's owners are selling any player they can. Lets hope my AFL team can at least do well, because no one else is
EDIT - Ryan Fitzpatrick signed for TWO years at $11 million + possible bonuses/add-ons.

That's a horrible pickup for the Dolphins. Fitzpatrick has been discarded by 8 former NFL teams. He had a few great games last year but he also has a few terrible ones and got dropped by the Bucs. So the backup is stil Luke Falk, has he ever played an NFL game? I'm now wondering it the Dolphins will go for Drew Lock in the draft or concentrate on another area of their team now they have their starting quarterback for 2019. This is good news for me if it is the case as it means the chances of Washington picking up Dew Lock have suddenly improved dramatically and there is now the possibility they will not have to trade up to get him.
It remains to be seen if Miami signed Fitzpatrick to be the starter, or the backup. The fee of $11 million says probably the starter, which says Miami are committed to tanking.
How has AJ McCarron not got a starting job yet? Someone needs to take a chance on him. I'd much prefer Miami to have signed a young backup like McCarron or Mullens, than Fitzpatrick, who as you say has played for 28% of all NFL teams. This season is going to be painful.
Washington and Denver are officially back in the race for Rosen now.

Yes, I agree with you Matt, it sounds like Fitzpatrick is going to be the starter for the 2019 season and will be the veteran who teaches the young rookie who Miami will select with a very high pick in the 2020 draft. I wonder why the Dolphins have pulled out of the Drew Lock race, they were two positions higher than the Redskins and it would have solved their quarterback problem for the forseeable future. I hope the Redskins aren't stupid enough to pick up Josh Rosen, the guy was hopless last year. I'm hoping now that the Dolphins have opted to go with Fitzgerald the Redskins will aggressively go after Lock where before it wasn't a sure shot as Miami were also showing interest.
I wouldn't be too upset if the Redskins picked Montez Sweat.
I hear a rumour the plan for Miami is to absolutely tank it to get the highest pick in next years draft to get some quarterback whose name I can't pronounce and this year pick up the WR Metcalf so he has a top target to throw to.
Unlike Washington, Miami actually have a very good WR group. Kenny Stills had a poor 2018 by his standards, Albert Wilson was torching teams before a season-ending injury, Jakeem Grant had a breakout season, and DeVante Parker has signed a new contract months after his agent wanted him out of Miami. I guess they could get an A-grade WR, but there are other needs like QB and o-line.
When you combine that with the RBs being 2 young talents Kenyan Drake and Kalen Ballage, it's not a bad offense. The problem will be that the RBs will be playing under an atrocious o-line, and the WRs will have Fitzpatrick throwing to them, under pressure. Miami have decided to strip the o-line of older, injury-prone players, but for the short term is hurts. Then there's pressure on the defense to play well, but even that area has holes. And it's hard to defend the QB in this age, especially when Miami will have the worst pass rush in the NFL.
Miami need to finish 4-12, while also retaining key players. That way they can draft Tua (not sure if that is his first or last name) and over the course of this and next draft, rebuild the team with draft picks and free agency. I read that by 2020 Miami are projected to have $120 million in cap space free. And if they decide to instead trade for Rosen or draft a 2019 QB, with their high 2020 1st rounder they can pick a quality non-QB player.
EDIT - Ouch. Washington and Miami are ranked 30th and 31st respectively in the NFL.com Power Rankings...

30 and 31st!!?? I don't know about the Dolphins but I didn't think the Redskins were as bad as that. I seem to recall them having a good defense last year. I see the Redskins have signed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, shouldn't have no problem playing alongside Landon Collins seeing as both of them played in the NY Giants secondary. A little concerned though when a player comes out of retirement, I just get the feeling they are after a payday.
Looks like the Dolphins are going to lose Robert Quinn to the Cowboys. Miami may have to look at defensive ends in the draft to replace him.
This could potentially be horrific for Miami. They're basically ditching any and every player they think is either trade-able or washed up. While this is going to create cap space and potentially accumulate draft picks, there are so many holes now. QB? A must WR? Ok actually RB? Ok as well TE? Too early to call O-line? A desperate need Pass rush? A desperate need Defense? Needs some work Basically this draft Miami need about 7 quality new players. No way they find enough this draft. So it carries onto 2020. And what if they still don't get it right, or if players on the offense leave and new holes appear? Free agency is a no go. Who would want to come to Miami?
You're probably right about Rodgers-Cromartie. But still, what you say about him being ex-NY Giants is interesting. All of a sudden Washington have brought in 2 defensive players who have played together for years, alongside the o-line that features several ex-Alabama college players who have played together for years. I rate club culture very highly, and Washington's should be booming in the off-season.
I think Washington will do ok. It seems like they'll draft a rookie with pick 15 to sit behind Keenum/McCoy, so the QB issue will be solved in the long-term. And if they pick a WR with their 2nd round pick (there will still be quality players left at pick 47), they may surprise people. I remember last season Miami were ranked last in the power rankings just prior to week 1, but then jumped out of the blocks and started 3-0. And with that head start, they absolutely should've made playoffs.

I don't get it, I just realised D.J. Swearinger got traded to the Cardinals in December because he didn't agree with the coaches on a couple of things yet the Redskins are quite happy to take on Rueben Foster and the problems he brings to the club. Last year D.J Swearinger was one of the top rated Strong Safties in the NFL and Washington just gave him away, literally. They've got the position covered now with Landon Collins but dollars were splashed on an area that didn't need to be upgraded. They would have had the money for Dix as well which I would have prefered to Rodgers-Cromartie who already has one foot in retirement which is not a good sign, tells me he no longer has the desire to win.
I see Haskins is visiting the Redskins, I don't think they'll get him but you never know what will happen draft day if the Redskins like what they see.
That Swearinger story is much bigger than you think. Basically he's been a trouble maker for years, and the team finally had enough. He shouldn't have blamed the coaches. I mean, if your defense is terrible enough not to intercept Blaine Gabbert, it's the defensive players' fault. He was just too public with the criticism.
I agree that it was crazy getting no compensation through a trade. They should'vt waited until the off-season and got a 4th round pick. But there are some head-scratching moves in football. Most of the time we don't know the full story.
Dix was a bust at Washington. The moment he turned up, the Washington defense fell apart and a strong W-L record turned into nearly finishing last in the NFC East. Coincidence? He needed to go.

Thanks for pointing out that connection Matt, I now feel a lot better Dix is gone. I prefer Landon Collins to DJ Swearinger as well so I suppose its a move in the right direction even though other areas of the team could have been dealt with first.
Looks like the Patriots are starting to realise their relationship with Tom Brady is coming to an end. They are reluctant to give him a long term deal and are instead want to do year by year contracts. The guy has just won the Super Bowl for them for the upteenth time, surely he would have deserved a three year contract on the strength of that. What that means now is the team can't ask Brady to reduce his wages to help finance other areas of the team like they have in previous years. It doesn't make sense to me, the Patriots had a nice little scam going there to reduce the salary cap. I don't know how Brady will take it either, he's the sort of player who will be asked to be traded but then again who would want him, he's basically a veteran quarterback on the slide who has a couple of years left in the NFL. Mind you he would come with a ton of Super Bowl experience.
I[m wondering if there is any truth in the Rosen going to New England story and the Patriots just want to keep Brady around for one more, maybe two years to groom him as his successor. Bill Belichick is shrewd, he's up to something. No way does he run out Brady's tenure at the club without having a successor in place for the following season.
That's just the way older players have their contracts written. It's exactly the same in Australian sports with players who are 35 and above. I think you're buying into it too much. In week 3 after NE lost to Detroit and fell to 1-2, you thought the Brady-Belichick relationship was declining, and they went on to win the Superbowl...
I thought initially that Rosen going to NE was about a 5% chance. But it's much higher now. Miami are unlikely to sign Rosen since they signed Fitz for 11 million, Washington are unlikely to sign him because they already have 2 competing QBs + Alex Smith (everyone seems to have forgotten that come the 2020/21 season, he should be fully healthy). Denver signed Flacco so it would be silly for them to sign Rosen.
Basically, these are the only realistic or slightly realistic places he can go: Miami New England Cincinnati Oakland NY Giants Washington Tampa Bay
The team I keep forgetting about is NY Giants. They could give Arizona their pick 17 and get Rosen and a 3rd round pick in return, while drafting an o-line player with pick 6. The other sneaky chance is Cincinnati.

It would be far better than drafting a 2019 QB. Besides, our backup QBs have never thrown a pass in the NFL. In comparison, Mullens has performed adequately in a team that was 1-7 (he went 3-5 in his 8 games) when he came in, and has beaten Seattle (Russel Wilson) in overtime... We need someone for when Fitz gets benched after a 0TD 3INT performance.
