I'm having trouble even getting past the Thursday Game. Browns must win if they are going to have any chance to make the playoffs with their remaining schedule. I feel like the Steelers also need to win because they finish the years with 5/7 games on the road.
I think the Colts/Jaguars Game all depends on if Brissett plays. I'm not ever picking Hoyer again.
Then we come to the Jets/Redskins. Two teams with many problems. Even if the Jets win, they don't have any shot of making the playoffs since they still play the Steelers and Ravens. I guess it comes down to who wants the better draft pick more.
And what about the Pats/Eagles. Eagles need the win with Dallas so willing to give up the control of the division, but can the Pats really lose two in row after being disrespected the last time out and having almost two weeks to think about it?
Then the Bears/Rams. Both teams have serious offensive issues. And both teams seriously need the W to have any shot in the playoffs race with the Seahawks and Vikings both two/three games ahead of them.
And then MNF in Mexico City. The Chargers need to win. Badly. But can the Chiefs really drop 5 of their last seven? And possibly lose the division the Raiders?
The other games seem easy, but you never know this year. Especially with Miami thinking they're something. lol
I found next week's games pretty reasonable. There were a few doubtful picks, but most were obvious to me. I struggled with NE @ PHI, DAL @ DET, and BUF @ MIA. Before the season started I circled the Baltimore and Philly games as the only games NE would lose, but I don't know if I can trust NE to lose another game after a bye. And assuming Stafford starts, Detroit have been one of the unluckiest teams in the competition, and are much better than their record, and Dallas are poor away from home. Miami have been looking good as of late, but this could be a bounce back game for Buffalo.
I assume Brisset will play, since he was a good chance to start against Miami.

Wow. San Fransisco level the scores with 1 second left! Terrible defense by Seattle...
And as we know, the home team should always be favoured in overtime.
EDIT - Now it's SF's turn to choke. Concede a 14-yard pass on 3rd and 2. Then concede a 28-yard pass on 3rd and 16. disgraceful. They deserve to lose this game.
Double EDIT - Oh my. Russel Wilson throws his 2nd interception of the season, and San Francisco run up to midfield!
Triple EDIT - San Fransisco miss the 47-yard game winner.

Charles Rogers, a former Detroit Lions receiver whose promising N.F.L. career was derailed by injuries and drug use, died on Monday in Fort Myers, Fla. He was 38.
Yes mrgtt123, I read an article on it, Rogers had a promising NFL career until it got derailed by injuries and drugs, I think he played for Detroit Lions. He died of liver disease aged 38. I lay money that a lot of current NFL stars are quietly suffering from liver disease because of the PEDs they take.
Sounds like I missed the best game of the season so far. How did San Francisco get such a good defense. They gave away Reuben Foster to the Redskins last year. Who the hell did they get to replaces him, Foster was a former first round pick.
The NFL simply doesn't punish players enough for PEDs. The punishment is a 4-game suspension. In Australian sport, if you take ANY sort of performance enhancing drug on or before a match day (including illicit drugs), it carries a 2-4 year ban. A few years ago two players got 2-year bans, last year a player got an 18-month ban, and this season a player got found out, and will soon be banned for 4 years.
It sounds like everything is just coming together for San Fransisco at the right time. Of course, Nick Bosa is a huge addition, but their defense was terrible last season; it was the offense that was supposedly good. They've been rebuilding for a few years now, and now they're ready. Hopefully this is what Miami and Washington can be like in the near future.

Dennis: You missed a horribly executed game. It was very tough to watch the Seahawks & Niners. Trust me, you didn't miss anything. Too many mistakes. Looked back and forth on paper, but it wasn't pretty. Basically this whole year in a nutshell.
Niners should've easily won. Bad play calling in overtime. Bad mistakes by Garoppolo.
Just saw some playoff percentages for the Thursday Game. Both the Steelers and Browns need it. Browns a little bit more, but still. Makes that even tougher to pick.
Yeah...sadly you can never write off the Dogs. At 1-4 it looked like they may give up on the season and use it for development, but now they're back to give Miami a pick 21. And even worse that Miami gave up possibly the DPOTY for a pick 21, after we used a pick 11 on him.
I picked Cleveland based on the fact they have a better roster, and are at home, but don't be surprised of the Dogs win it at the death.
The betting odds are up now, and apparently I have picked 1 upset only. I went with 8 home teams and 6 road teams.

Looks like the Redskins have given up on Haskins already. The reports coming out of Washington are implying that Haskins will play the rest of the season which will basically guarantee the Redskins the worst record in the league as poor old Dwayne only has a 36.3 quarterback rating and in the offseason a new coach will be appointed who will have a fresh start and bring his own players in. This points to the Redskins picking Tua in the draft with either the number 2 pick after the Bungles have selected Joe Burrow with the first pick. Guess what college Tua is from - Alabama, sounds like he'll be reunited with about a dozen Crimson Tide team mates. Miami have yet to play Cincinnatti which is now a key game, lol. The Redskins are basically doing what the Cardinals did ditching Rosen for Murray.
1) Cincinnatti = Joe Burrow QB 2) Washington = Tua Tagovailoa QB 3) NY Giants = Andrew Thomas OL 4) Miami - Chase Young Edge
If Washington don't take Tua with pick 2 then it's Chase Young and Miami pick up Tua at pick 4.I personally think it's too early to give up on Haskins. The Steelers didn't give up with Bradshaw and the Broncos didn't give up with Elway when both had rough starts and both clubs were rewarded with multiple Super Bowls.
Wow. That is terrible if Washington are getting ready to ditch Haskins. He's going to have just 7 games to prove himself. Jared Goff had 7 games in his rookie year, and went 0-7 in one of the worst teams in recent memory. His next year, he was revitalised and was one of the best QBs.
2016 stats: 7 games, 156 yards per game, 55% completion rate, 5TDs, 7INTs, 2 lost fumbles, sacked 3.7 times per game 2017 stats: 15 games, 254 yards per game, 62% completion rate, 28TDs, 7INTs, 3 lost fumbles, sacked 1.7 times per game
Washington need to bring in a young coach that can work with Haskins and get the best out of him. They also need to draft o-line players to protect him, and give him time to pass the ball. Washington have a good core of young offensive players. Guice has potential, and McLaurin looks a star. They can't give up on Haskins so soon, as there's a reason he was the best QB of the draft up until the final week.
The Alabama links with Tua seem very accurate though. Clearly it's been a plan of Washington to draft lots of players out of the same college. It's very smart.
It would be smart for Washington to give Haskins this season and the next, and if he isn't good enough, they can draft Trevor Lawrence.
I notice you've got Burrow as the #1 pick as well. I've been reading everywhere that he has overtaken Tua, simply because of Tua's ankle injury. Surely it's jumping the gun. If a team drafts good o-line players, Tua will not get injured.

What you say about giving Haskins makes sense to me Matt but we are dealing with head coaches that have big egos. If for example some great college coach came to the Redskins and wins a Super Bowl with Haskins everyone will say the quarterback was already in place. This is why new head coaches like to bring in 'their guy' and build the team around them so it basically stamps the team as his and he gets all the credit. Not in the teams best interests I know but that generally tends to happen unless the player is elite, how many times have we seen a new head coach appointed and before you know it the established starters and stars in the team are traded for draft picks.
Lots of reports coming out saying Tua is way better than anyone at the position for decades, apparently he makes Kyler Murray look ordinary and that kid is starting to make things happen with the Cardinals. There are also a lot of reports saying that the best two quarterbacks will be coming out of the 2021 draft who will be even better than Tua, Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields, both constantly get compared to Elway and Marino. The things is though we've heard all this before with the Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold and Allen draft of 2018 and to be honest none of them are setting the NFL alight. As things stand now the best of that bunch is probably Darnold, Allen is average and the other two face the prospect of being backups if they don't improve considerably.
You are dead right about Joe Burrow, he only has the number one draft tag because Tua is injured. Will the Bengals be sensible and still pick Tua or go with Burrows like all the experts are predicting. Cincinatti being the Bungles they will go with Burrows which in my mind is a mistake.
That's a good point. Kliff Kingsbury came in and got rid of Josh Rosen, and people are giving him credit for putting the pieces in place now that Kyler Murray looks good. Even at Miami, Brian Flores has came in, and suddenly Minkah Fitzpatrick gets traded because he starts whinging. It's certainly a gamble, but if it pays off a team will have good success.
From what I hear, Tua is very talented, but he also plays in a team with extremely talented players as well. If he goes to Cincinnati, he'll enter a dumpster fire with very limited talent. And assuming Cincy take him, their next pick is #33, so they can't bring in lots of young talent. But if Miami take him, they have: (excluding rounds 5-7) 2020: Two 1st-rounders Two 2nd-rounders Two 3rd rounders One 4th-rounder 2021: Two 1st-rounders Two 2nd-rounders One 3rd-rounder One 4th-rounder ...which they can use in order to quickly bolster the roster. And if they want immediate success, they can trade some of their 2021 picks in order to gain more 2020 picks.
I also am keeping a look out for Justin Herbert. No-one is mentioning him, yet I think he's a dark horse to be the first QB selected. He was going to nominate for the 2019 draft and NY Giants were interested in picking him at #6, but then he decided to go back to college for his final year and play with his brother. When the 2020 draft comes, he'll be very experienced, but his skill may be masked by the hype surrounding Burrow and Tua.
Your point about the 2018 QB class is spot on, and you reminded me to post about their stats. I was meant to have a look at how each of them went in year 1 and now this year: (ranked from highest 2019 passer rating to the lowest)
I was very surprised with these results. I had no idea just how good Lamar Jackson is playing. 21 total TDs and just 5INTs is amazing, and he has improved in several categories, including losing 0 fumbles this season (lost 4 in half a season in 2018). I was also surprised to see Josh Allen's improvement. Maybe he will make it in this league after all. And also, I included Mason Rudolph because I analysed him back in 2018 with the others, and he is the starter now. It remains to be seen if he can become an above average QB, but his stats are very promising this year.
Mayfield has stalled as we know, and Darnold hasn't really improved, other than his completion rate improving dramatically. Josh Rosen looks a bust unless New England trade for him very soon.

I doubt New England will trade for Rosen now Matt after seeing how many decent quarterbacks will be coming into the NFL in the next couple of years. I bet Belichick goes all in to get one of them in next years draft. Brady isn't getting better, only older, from what I have seen of him lately his most valuable assets are the experience and confidence he brings to the team, physically he is well past his prime. It wouldn't surprise me if Belichick and Brady retire at the same time. I don't think Belichick will want the stress of working with a rookie quarterback at his age and maybe tarnishing his legacy.
It would be a missed opportunity if they don't trade for him. He's played in awful Arizona and Miami teams, who have some of the worst o-lines I've seen in my time following the sport. A team should definitely trade for him, seeing as Miami would likely ask for just a 5th round pick.
If I was in change of recruitment for a club, I'd rather take a chance on Rosen by using a 5th round pick, than using a top 20 pick on an unknown player.

I hear what you are saying Matt, the thing is though with Rosen now is he will be looked upon as damaged goods. No telling what his confidence is like now after being benched and banged about by NFL defenses. If he had been drafted by a decent team and groomed like in the old days he might have been a decent quarterback, he obviously had the talent as he showed at the college level. It's not all over for him though as Steve Young bounced back from playing in Tampa Bay in the early 80's when they were one of the worst teams ever to be in the Hall of Fame with Super Bowl rings. Mind you he was lucky to have the great Bill Walsh as his coach and Joe Montana as his mentor. Reading what I have just written that sounds eerily like the Patriots now with Billichick and Brady, could you be right Matt and history repeats and Rosen becomes the next Steve Young? It would make a great story.
I've felt for a long time that New England's new starting QB will not be out of the draft, but through a trade. It's just a hunch I've had for a while. So I feel that a trade could happen in the offseason, and NE could have Josh Rosen and Jarret Stidham battle it out for the backup job. Like you say, sitting behind a 6-time SB-winner and the GOAT coach would be a great experience.
~ Sometimes people change, but sometimes you just open your eyes & realise who they truly are ~
The Patriots showed a lot of interest in Rosen when he was a Cardinal and during the offseason. Why did they not pull the trigger after the 2019 draft and pick him up for a similar deal to what Miami did? Make's you wonder what Belichick saw in Rosen to have that initial interest, Belichick is still upset at being forced by management to trade Garapollo away which was basically because Brady felt threatened by his backup and went to the owner of the Patriots to force the move.
Maybe they felt the price was too high. Or the fact Brady will be playing in this league for a minimum of 3 more years. I doubt Rosen would want to be the backup on the same team for 3 years, but 2 years may be appealing to him.
Even if they don't get Rosen, they have a habit of developing good young QBs through the draft. First it was Garoppolo, who looks certain to have a good career in the league at SF. Then there was Jacoby Brisset, who is now the starter at Indy, and putting up decent numbers. Now there's Jarret Stidham, who put up very good numbers in the pre-season and is still with New England.
