Colin Cowherd the analyst on The Herd who has been deadly accurate in his predictions in past years regarding rookie quarterbacks predicts Tua will be Miami's starter in Week 7 versus the Los Angeles Chargers and will get his first career win the following week versus the Rams.
What has happened with giving Tua a year to recover from his injuries and learn the system at Miami? The closer we get to the start of the season the louder the noise is becoming for Tua to start Week 1. I see the former Heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson is a Dolphins fan, I've seen several photos of him with a number 1 Tua shirt. Surprises me, as he comes from New York.
Rumours going about that Dalvin Cook may end up being a Dolphin. He's currently holding out at Minnesota. That would be a great pick-up for the Miami. The deal is rumoured to be a first and fourth round selection in the 2021 Draft.
From what I've heard, Cook coming to Miami is a pipe dream. But that price of a 1st and 4th rounder is too high. He's an injury-prone, above average RB.
The analysts are saying Tua has to start, because they don't take a second to think. All they think is 'Tua the savior, start him immediately and contend for playoffs'. They forget that QBs tend to have bad rookie seasons if they start from Day 1. I trust that Flores knows that he's doing, and that he redshirts Tua. However if he does do this, you can guarantee that people will be idiots and call for him to be sacked if we keep starting Fitz and keep losing games.
Remember when Miami started Rosen in order to experiment and evaluate Rosen's ability? We were accused of tanking, and the NFL was about to start an official investigation. Then we were forced to start Fitz. The pressure from the media will be pretty tough.
Dennis, I feel that Haskins won't be a bust after all. He reminds me of the way Jared Goff started his career. He was woeful as a rookie, but under a new coach and with some NFL experience, he then threw for 28TDs and 7INTs (and playoff qualification). I read something that I think said after Haskins' first few games, he then threw for 7TDs and 3INTs, and it also had video which showed that Haskins was reading the play like a veteran.

I've probably watched the same videos on Youtube. People forget Haskins was the young player that beat out Joe Burrows for ths starting job and forced him to look for another college. Haskins threw for 50 Touchdowns in a season at Ohio state and there's only four players in the entire history of college football who have thrown more and they were in weaker divisions.
If Haskins gets a decent supporting cast around him we'll be able to see what he can do. He literally only had one decent player around him last season and that was a rookie wide reciever. If Guice comes back healthy and Washington hit the jackpot again with another late round draft pick the Redskins should be able to get four or five wins and not be the worst team in the NFL like lots of experts are predicting. The way I look at it the Redskins defense is going to keep a lot of games tight. I can't wait to see Chase Young swinging in from one side of the line and Montel Sweat the other.
Jadeveon Clowney has just turned down a 15 million dollar deal with Seattle. Apparently he wants to join the Baltimore Ravens except they have no money left to sign him...
There are calls now for Colin Kaepernick to be 'assigned' to an NFL team with the leading candidates being Jacksonville and Washington. The Redskins don't need him, if people think the guy can walk back into an NFL team and play quarterback after a three year layoff they know nothing about pro football. The best Colin Kaepernick can hope for now from the NFL is to be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the wing they have for people that influenced the game.
Haven't really got anything interesting to say, so I'll just mention the only thing I can think of.
Pete Carrol said that he's heard that at least one team has signaled interest in signing Kaepernick. Not surprising. Let's see if he actually accepts a contract unlike last time.
And to think that we've got 2 more months until pre-season starts...

I thought it was two teams that showed 'interest'. I was thninking about it Matt. Let say for arguments sake one of the teams is Jacksonville and they sign Kaepernick and give him the opportunity to start for them and then after two or three games it becomes clearly apparent this is not the same Kaepernick of three years ago what happens next? If Jacksonville then bench him and replace him with their backup quarterback who happens to be white the race issue will be brought up again. The best thing for Kaepernick is for the NFL to give him an apology payoff for loss of earnings and a place in their Hall of Fame for his stand and for him to ride of into the sunset. This 'assigning' him to a team I feel will make matters worse.
Not much happening around the NFL at the moment, lots of people are tipping the Eagles to do this season now that Wentz does not have to carry the team by himself. I have a feeling the Raiders will put together a run, that team must be buzzing after seeing the new stadium they will be playing at in Las Vegas. They had a great draft last year and if years rookies also play well I think they will contend for the division title at least.
Kaepernick got paid off about 6 months ago. From memory, I think it was $10 million. But I may be imagining it and it may have only been a few million. But he's got his financial compensation already.
With your point about him being benched, that's why teams will be scared to pick him up as a starter. He'll be a backup, especially given his age.
I think you have too much faith in Jon Gruden. His career achievement was winning a SB with Tampa Bay, but apart from that year he's done very little. I see Las Vegas's ceiling as playing away from home on wildcard weekend. There's probably a 4% chance that they win the division. Offensively they'll do well, but their defense was poor last season, and Damon Arnette is a boom or bust CB.
As for Philly, they seem very stale for me. I just don't see anything special in that team. Wentz has top-5 potential when healthy, but he gets injured on a regular basis. Jalen Reagor was a reach in the 1st round, and I can't even name any of their RBs anymore. Unfortunately I think Wentz will be carrying the team again. I can't see them catching Dallas.

Why is everyone so high on Dallas? They have some serious problems on defense which they should have taken care of in the draft but instead opted to go with a Wide Reciever. The Dak Prescot situation is still up in the air and nobody is sure how that will be resolved and what the impact will be for the team. I don't see Dallas doing any better than 9-7 and getting a wild card.
Redskins may be trading Ryan Anderson the linebacker from Alabama, how are Miami fixed for linebackers?
Dallas drafted projected 1st-rounder Trevon Diggs (CB) in the 2nd round. He's arguably better than Terrell and Arnette, who were taken at #16 and #19 respectively. Defense will be crucial for Dallas. Offensively, Dak threw for over 5,000 yards last season, and now has CeeDee Lamb at his disposal, making Dallas's offense a top-3 unit. Then there's Zeke Elliot, who is a top 5 RB to take the pressure off Dak. Not to mention the fact that Dallas have a top-5 o-line.
With the talent Dallas have, there are no excuses if they don't win the division. They should be aiming for the #1 seed, since they're in a weak division.
tl;dr: Top 3 offense Top 5 RB Top 5 o-line = Capability to be the #1 seed

On paper they look great Matt, it's the intagibles that are the problem. A greedy selfish quarterback, too many rookies starting, and an overated running back, a disgruntled locker room divided over Prescott who refuses to attend training sessions. Elliot was great before he got his big contract, since then he has been average. I see Philadelphia taking the NFC East with a 11-5 record beating Dallas home and away.
That's what I'm hoping will bring Dallas down. On paper they look capable, so I'm pessimistically starting my expectations at Dallas being the #1 seed. In practice they may stumble, but I want to be prepared for a good Dallas season in case it happens. That way if they are lets say the #3 seed, I'll be somewhat happy since I had them as a SB threat initially.
The Dallas locker room will be interesting like you say. If Dak gets paid, his teammates who will have to take a pay cut will not be very happy. If he doesn't, Dak won't be happy at the Dallas organisation. Then there's Amari Cooper on $100 million. Zeke is also getting paid a lot. Not to mention Jerry Jones and his big influence on the team, especially given that players are going to be kneeling in week 1.
The hope is that Philly can start well and get a head start over Dallas. Then the pressure will be on, and we both know how Dak plays in the pressure moments.

Looks like Dallas will be out of the running this year anyway. Half the team have tested positive for Covid-19, one of the players infected is Ezekiel Elliott. I wonder if they caught it at Dak Prescotts party he had the other month. Although the players do not show symptoms they are carrying the virus.
Wasn't Jerry Jones the owner who said four years ago if he saw anyone kneeling during the national anthem they will be out of the organisation before they knew it? It will be interesting to see what he does now lol.
Yes that was good old Jerry. Not surprisingly, he has made no comments about the protests. And yeah Dak had a party a few months ago. It's almost impossible to have been caught from there, but it was reckless to say the least.
It reminds me of what Novaxx Djokovic has been up to. Since the virus, a few small tennis tournaments have popped up, but have to have strict restrictions and measures in place (including no or a restricted crowd). Recently he launched his own tournament which had packed crowds with no masks, no gloves, no distancing etc, and then he put on an after-tournament party indoors which also had no restrictions. Some people are just silly.

Looks like Colin Kaepernick could end up being a Charger. The team officially announced they are interested in signing him. Not sure where he will fit in there, they've already got Justin Herbert, Tyrod Taylor, and some guy called Easton Stick.
Also looking like the landing spots for the likes of Clowney and Prescott won't get resolved until July 15th. All parties it appears to me are waiting for the window to almost close so quick reckless decisions need to be made under pressure. Basically looks like Dak will get his contract and Clowney will play another year in Seattle.
That seems like a PR move. LA Chargers already have one of the best backups in the league in Taylor. They're a tinpot franchise who needs a jolt of life. They believe they'll gain a lot of fans by doing this.

Lol, never thought of that angle. I was wondering why the Chargers were interested, it didn't make sense. Colin Kaepernick holding a clip board while a white young untested quarterback started would upset his supporters. They want Kaepernick to start. I can't see that happening, the NFL has moved on since he last started, all Kaepernick can hope for is a second if he is lucky or third string positon on a team. I personally don't think he will play another NFL down. There will be too much pressure on him to be successful.
Dak has officially signed the franchise deal, worth $31 million (but it could rise to $37 million). He and Dallas have until July 15th to get a longer deal done, otherwise Dak's career hinges on one season.

You make it sound like the end of the world Matt, $37 million is more than enough to not have to play another down of NFL football. The guy's future is secured, the pressure is off of him now.
I see Ben Roethlisberger has some kind of pornography problem, something not right with that guy, he's been accusd of sexual assault twice in the past. Makes you now wonder if there is some kind of connection.
Germany are talking about closing their borders because there has been a sudden increase in Covid-19 and I closely follow the UFC and president Dana White says the US is about to be hit with a second wave of the virus. Doesn't look good for the NFL who have just announced that nearly all the teams have at least one player infected.
At least I still get to see the UFC, Dana White has a small island in Dubai where an octogon is going to be placed on the beach, it looks awesome. Fighters, coaches and sparring partners are closely monitored.
Of course $37 million is fine. I meant that his playing career will be in jeopardy if Dallas don't win a playoff game.
Interestingly, the 3 states responsible for the new increase in daily cases are Texas, California, & Florida. That doesn't bode well for Dallas, Houston, Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, San Francisco, LA Rams, LA Chargers, & Las Vegas.
What Australian sports have done is that in order to keep teams closer together and ensure that unnecessary travel isn't undertaken, there have been 'hubs' created in some instances. If certain states are still having spikes in cases in August, the NFL may consider creating some hubs for the start of the season. For example:
Hub A (@ Arizona) - NFC West and AFC East teams
Hub B (@ Missouri) - AFC West and NFC South teams
Hub C (@ Ohio) - AFC North and NFC East teams
Hub D (@ Indiana) - AFC South and NFC North teams
A scenario like this would work, since these pairs of divisions from different conferences each play each other this season. It would mean the schedule could involve some divisional games, and then the non-conference games, for potentially 7 weeks.

All sounds too complicated for the average fan. As soon as players, especially key ones are diagnosed with Covid-19 the league will go into lockdown.
Worryingly, I am hearing more and more that there is a possibilty a vaccine will not be found for Covid-19 and the world will just have to deal with it like the flu and cancer.
Adrian Peterson says he is going to continue playing NFL football for another four years. That takes him up to age 40. I didn't realise he was that desperate for money.
'NFL star Adrian Peterson made close to $100 million but apparently can't pay his debts. The star running back is in court against a McAdoo, Pennsylvania-based creditor over failure to pay a $5.2 million loan. With interest and legal fees, the sum claimed is about $6.6 million.'
I remember you mentioning it a year or two ago and posting a picture of him riding a camel. So the guy likes to splash a bit of cash and have parties, but $100 million is an aweful lot of money to get through. He must still have something to show for it, surely.
Lol, I was going to mention Peterson, but forgot. He's got a maximum of 2 years left, and as soon as Washington say goodbye to him, that's goodbye to his career too.
In AFL a player tested positive for coronavirus, but thankfully only he and one other player will have to self-isolate, and the league will continue as normal.
Unfortunately the state of Victoria is having a surge of new cases, and several AFL teams will have to leave the state. My team which you can see on the far left in my signature, is one of those who will have to move west and play home and away games in a different state. Seeing as a combination of people breaking lockdown rules, Trump, and BLM protestors has seen recent growth in US coronavirus cases, the NFL may have to start thinking of how they will work around it if cases are still high in August/September.
