Howard is a really good player but is lowering his value by demanding a trade and basically forcing the receiving team to extend him as the highest paid CB. He's also missed 24 games in his career with injury and benefitted greatly from being across from Byron Jones, who they are also paying. A team that trades for him and then pays him 20M to be a lockdown corner without a star across from him. Miami getting multiple picks is a definite win for him.

I agree. That is why I think the Panthers make a lot of sense. They are young on defense and just drafted Horn in the 1st, so Howard could be the veteran of the group while having help across from him.

Your Xavian Howard trade makes sense Warrior13, I could see that happening or something very similar. I also agree with what steelersroock01 says about Howard, I was wondering too whether a team would give up what he demands for an injury prone player who had the good fortune to play alongside talented players.

I wonder if Howard is as good as he says or is he another Larry Brown, the Cowboys Super Bowl MVP who had a great supporting cast around him which included Dion Sanders but as soon as he got traded to Pittsburgh it become quickly apparent he wasn't as good as advertised.

I guess we'll find out after he is traded. And he's going to be traded as the Phins have rejected all his contract proposals since they just gave him a huge contract two years ago. They aren't going to play that game when they as deep as they are in the secondary.

Good for the Dolphins, they know Howards worth and are not prepared to overpay. They just need to get the most they can for him. I fail to see what Howard is unhappy about, the Dolphins gave him a fair contract.

Yeah this trend of players signing huge contracts and then a year or 2 later being completely unhappy with it is getting old. Best for both sides to move on.

He wants more money just because he led the NFL in interceptions last year. His contract has also run dry with guarantees because they have already been paid. He got a huge contract after leading the NFL in picks, and now he wants more because he did so again. That is not how the NFL works. If it did, these QBs would want and get a bigger contract each year. You were paid to play your best, not what you had already done.

Everyone is trying to say Howard for Watson, but that is not going to happen since Miami is going to roll with Tua. From there, I am hearing the Cardinals and Chargers as possible landing spots, but the offer would have to be big from both since they could be later picks. Miami has already said earlier in the offseason when rumors first started that they would want a deal similar to what they got for Tunsil (at least two 1sts).

Doubtful they get two firsts at this point. Maybe a first and a third.

A 1st and a 3rd sounds about right, although Miami will be hoping for more. If I were Miami I'd take that deal and try and flip the 3rd round pick for a 1st in some kind of trade with another team by bundling it with a couple of other low round picks. To me Howard is problem player the organisation can do without.

I would take that in a heartbeat. Having two 1sts for the next two years would be so nice, especially after just having three and two in the previous two drafts, respectively. lol

The latest NFL power rankings have just been released. Can someone please explain to me why Washington is listed number 24, below Dallas and N.Y. Giants, two teams Washington has beaten out to win the NFC East. Washington also then went close against the eventual Super Bowl winner and number 1 ranked team - Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Washington has a top 3 defense and a top 5 offensive line.

The issue will be scoring points and keeping turnovers down. Fitz had a good 2 seasons at Miami, but that's not always the case. At Tampa Bay he was horrible inconsistent, and was a turnover machine. Dallas should be higher, but not NY Giants.

If the Fitzpatrick who played at Miami the last couple of years turns up in September Washington will light up the scoring board, they will be difficult to stop. Teams will no longer be able to constantly double team McLaren. Fitzpatrick himself has said he has never been in a position like this before with so much talent around him. And the guy has played for a few teams.

Always take power rankings with a huge mountain of salt. They're mostly nonsense and just for clicks, especially preseason ones. Washington has a ton of potential but also needs to translate it into wins. They beat the Dak-less Cowboys twice and the Eagles twice, once when they were blatantly tanking. They beat the Bengals in the game Joe Burrow got injured in, then beat the 49ers with Nick Mullens. The one solid win they had was against the Steelers, funny enough. I think Washington can win 10 or 11 games but they've got a tough schedule being the division winner - they have to play the AFC West and NFC South, plus games against the Seahawks, Bills, and Packers.

Bad news for the Eagles. Carson Wentz got hurt at practice Thursday and might need surgery and will miss time in the season. That second round pick they got from the Colts only turns to a first if Wentz plays 75% of the snaps or plays 70% and the Colts make the playoffs. Both are very unlikely if Wentz misses 4 games or more. None of the Colts other QB has much or any NFL experience.

Dennis: If they had a long term answer at QB, Redskins would be the favorite in that division. Fitz has always been inconsistent. I can see any of the teams, outside of the Eagles, winning that division.

Mike: Watch Wentz come back one game after they drop out of the 1st Round threshold of their pick. lol But in all seriousness, I hear they have interest in acquiring Nick Foles.

Hey, more power to em. Anything that hurts the Eagles is good in my book.

Nick Foles? The same Nick Foles who took over Wentz when they both played at Philadelphia and went on to win a Super Bowl. Smells like desperation to me. Warrior13 is right, Wentz will be back as soon as the Colts first round pick is safe.

The timing just seems a little uncanny. The Colts have already said they think Wentz will be back this season, but I really doubt it will be before midseason.

Wentz having for surgery, out 5-12 weeks. Since the next month is preseason, that would mean he is back by mid season. They could be in trouble if they cannot find a decent placeholder; their first five is rough. They could start 0-5 if they do not. If Foles is not available, I would try calling Rivers and see if he is still in good shape and would not mind one more year.

Foles is definitely available, he's the third string QB in Chicago and massively overpaid. That might just completely shatter Wentz's confidence if Foles does well though lol.
