No, they can't release him without messing up their cap situation. He is under contract for next year too but the money is not guaranteed so they theoretically could release him in the offseason but odds are much greater he retires or gets traded. No point releasing him when you can get something for him.

Did my preliminary picks for this week, some much easier choices on the face of it. Might take another look before the weekend though.

I just did my picks. Yahoo says I only have one upset at the moment, but I feel like I have two or three.

I've got two, but neither really seem like upsets based on last week's play.

My one upset is a bit risky, but I think it is going to be closer than most.

I have two upsets that seem obvious to me, not sure why nearly everyone disagrees with me.

Rashawn Slater has a chance of becoming Offensive rookie of the year. He totally dominated Chase Young just like he did in college last Sunday.

No shot a lineman gets OROY. A QB or Najee Harris will, and one of the WRs will have an outside shot.

Yeah, no way that happens. Tristen Wirfs was the #1 Ranked RT by PFN last year, and I doubt anyone considered him for Rookie of the Year. It will definitely be a QB.

It's always a QB or RB and rarely a WR. Last WR to win was Odell Beckham Jr, and that was after a 1300yd, 12 td season. Last RB was Saquon Barkley in 2018, and he only won because he had a monster season and all of the rookie QBs that year besides Mayfield were terrible.

That's a shame because some of these lineman are just not appreciated enough. Mark Mosely won the MVP in 1982 and he was a kicker, so it's not beyond the realms of impossibility.

Jamarr Chase suddenly found his catching form for the Bengals once the season started. He had a decent game last Sunday, he made some ridiculous moves on cornerbacks to get separation. It will be interesting to see at the end of the season which team selected the best wide reciever in the draft.

My money is on Lawrence or Wilson to with Offensive Rookie of the Year. Lord knows both will be throwing a lot since they will be playing from behind.

I guess Chase finally figured out what a football looks like without the college stripes.

That game was rough to watch. So many flags, game ending on one and changing the results. So many field goals, too much of a mediocre roller coaster. Glad it is over and ended with us each getting a W.

That game just added twenty years to my life. Second week in a row Chase Young has not turned up. Two weeks into the season and he still doesn?t have a sack. Giants are either not as bad as advertised or Washington?s defense is overrated, can?t decide which. Hienicke threw for 346 yards but I am not convinced he can lead Washington all the way to the playoffs. McLarin is looking like one of the best wide receivers in the league. Barkley looks like a shadow of his former self and I didn?t realise Daniel Jones could run, he got 86 yards on the ground.

Crazy game. Definitely a case where the Giants lost more than Washington won. NYG had some brutal penalties called and a bad drop where they could've had 2 TDs and had to settle for field goals. Daniel Jones played a pretty good game but Washington's secondary was just awful.

And yeah, Jones is pretty mobile. He's been their leading rusher both weeks so far, for what it's worth. That's a combination of Jones being a pretty good scrambler and Barkley just looking kind of bad. Their bottom 5 offensive line definitely isn't helping.

They both had loads of penalties. I felt like every crucial third down in the second half resulted in a holding call against one team or the other. I really wish the refs had let them play a little more. It was called consistently for the most part, but too many flags tend to ruin the game.

Both defenses are also playing quite differently compared to last year. They seemed to have two of the better defense, but this year they seem sloppy and not as energetic. I'm mean in what world does Chase Young not have any sacks in the first two games and Landon Collins gets outrun by Daniel Jones? Both teams look gassed, and we're not even two games in. Bending but not breaking isn't going to get you anywhere, not even in the NFC Least.

What a Giants way to lose.

The key moment was when Washington converted a 3rd and 9 with less than 30 seconds left on the clock. They weren't in FG range at the time either.

It's a shame with work now, I will barely be able to watch any games this season. I'll only have a 2-week window when we have our annual leave. From now on I will need to rely solely on reading articles and comments, and perhaps some highlights.

Giants and Falcons are both likely screwed. Both were sleepers to some, but now are almost guaranteed to be 0-2. They play each other next week, meaning one will be 0-3 with their season 90% over.

Matt, the official NFL Youtube channel makes ~10 minute highlight videos for every game. Unfortunately you have to scroll through all the random little crap videos the upload in between, but it could be a good solution for you.

I really thought both of them would be better. The Giants on paper have a strong defense and a good number of weapons. Offensive line and QB are their main weaknesses, but that's the same with other teams. I thought they'd at least sniff 7 or 8 wins.

Same for the Falcons, really, but reversed. No reason that offense shouldn't be good with Matt Ryan, Calvin Ridley, and Kyle Pitts. Their defense is awful though, they got bullied in the trenches by the Eagles.

It's really bad for both teams. Falcons should've easily defeated the Eagles on papers, even if in a shootout because of their poor defense. I really thought the Giants would've narrowly defeated the Broncos and then had a slight loss to the Redskins after a short week, but they were blown out by the former before the latter came to be.

Both have such a rough schedule. Outside of their easier divisional games, the Giants still have @ Saints, vs Rams, @ Chiefs, @ Bucs, @ Dolphins, and @ Chargers. Ouch. Falcons have a difficult division, plus games like @ Dolphins and @ Niners.

I don't know how either will win even 6 Games unless they can get a couple of upsets.

Join the club Matt, I also have no time to watch full games because of work and a family. I just rely on watching the 12 minute highlights steelersrock01 mentioned and shows like Colin Herd, Skip and Shannon, and Pat McAfee.

Falcons will definately be looking for a replacement for Mat Ryan in the draft, there was talk of it this year but they stuck with him for another year.

Giants on paper look like a decent team with their defense and offensive weapons, they are going struggle this year with that schedule and starting off with a demoralizing 0-2 start.

I think if Lance was available at #4, the Falcons would have selected him. But with him off the board, the logical choice was Pitts. A player like him comes around once in a decade; you can't pass on that. If the Falcons were smart, they would pass on a QB again this year. 2023 is looking like a far superior class, and Matt Ryan isn't too old where he can't hold down the fort.
