Matt: I am hoping Tua is truly the Phins guy, but I would not be surprised if they get Watson. I kind of hope the Phins will be able to lure Harbaugh out of Michigan. Flores is a good coach, but I think Harbaugh could get the Phins over the hump with Tua.
I think I have four or five upsets atm. Might change depending on who is actually playing. lol
The final week of the season is so hard to predict, you don't know what teams will be resting their star players and which teams want to keep their high draft pick. Your five upsets is distinct possibility Warrior13, I think there are going to be a few of them for the said reasons this weekend.
For example if Washington lose against the Giants the get the 6th pick of the draft and the choice of the quarterbacks but if they win they get pick 12 and they will most likely be gone. Same scenario they were in last year and it cost them Mica Parsons who went to Dallas and we ended up with a bust in Davies.
I have 1 upset pick according to the website. There are a lot of tough games where teams are playing for nothing and may be resting starters too, so it makes it even more unpredictable.
Those names for Washington are very bad. What happened with Redwolves? That one sounded ok. Even Redtails would be alright. I'd rather see them stay as Football Team then one of those 4 options on the previous page.

Anything with wolves in the title apparently has legal issues attached to it. Some team called the Timberwolves said they would sue. I personally think it is all nonsense and it has annoyed me immensely. Washington Wolves or Red Wolves is by far and away the best name and almost all the fan base agrees with me. I can't see for the life of me why the team can't use Wolves as their mascot. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the Falcons, Jaguars, Lions, Seahawks, Eagles, and Panthers.
I can't stand the thought of them being called Admirals, Commanders, or Red Tails.
I don't mind the Washington Hogs, that honors the teams golden era
I don't know why the Timberwolves would have an issue with Wolves in the name, they're a basketball team in Minnesota, and frankly they're lucky they even have a team with how terrible they are. Plus there's a ton of junior hockey teams with Wolves in the name. Goofy. We've got Cardinals in Baseball and football, Giants in Baseball and Football, and like 5 different teams have the same name in the NHL and NFL. Not seeing how that has any merit.
Kansas City squeezed past Denver 28-24 while playing to try and snatch the #1 seed. Not convincing at all. Denver choked when 21-21 and in the red zone, as Lock lost a fumble that was returned for a TD.
If LA Chargers and New England win, wildcard weekend will have LA Chargers @ Kansas City. Last time they played KC won 34-28 in OT (only because they won the toss). KC could easily be one and done this season.

I screwed up, I thought the Cowboys were NFC East division winners and guaranteed a place in the playoffs while Philadelphia were in the hunt along with two other teams. I didn't realise Philadelphia were also guaranteed a place and Dallas had a chance to clinch the number 2 seed. I would have picked differently otherwise. I got a bit of a shock when I saw some guy called Gardner Minshew at quarterback for the eagles.
That's two years running the Eagles have not attempted to win the last game of the season in fear of losing their draft position. They could have beaten the Cowboys with their first team playing, the game was close at half time. Disgraceful team rolling over and dying at home to a division rival. The Cowboys scoring over 50 points in two of their last three games is a bit misleading, they are not that good. Washington was Covid ridden and had injuries and Philadelphia didn't try.
Congrats to Matt winning the competition, no way Warrior13 or I are picking three upsets to overtake him with Saturday's games done.
Well Dallas did have the division locked up too, they were playing for seeding. The Eagles were locked into the playoffs too but I think they are locked into the 7 seed no matter what. No reason to risk injury to starters. Though I would bet Minshew is a better throwing QB than Hurts anyway... I'd love to have him on the Steelers next year, no one has given him a chance to start. Jacksonville drafted Lawrence to replace him and Philly is determined to run with Hurts, but Minshew has been pretty darn good.
Over parts of 3 seasons he has 22 starts (27 games played in), 63.2% completion %, just shy of 6000 yards, 41 passing TDs and 12 interceptions, and a 93.9 QB rating.
Averaged out to a 17 game season thats roughly 4600 yards, 32 TDs, 9 ints. Maybe a bit inflated because I'm using his entire stats over just 22 games since I can't separate out the games he came off the bench in, but he's pretty firmly in top 10-15 territory based on stats. Thing is this is probably his ceiling and he doesn't have the arm to improve much. Nothing to sneeze at, he would probably be an improvement for about half the teams in the league going into next year.
Things are getting interesting, the early games are over and Warrior13 is one game behind Matt. Detroit and Cleveland have come up with the upsets. I bet Matt is stressed, poor guy leads all season to have someone a game behind on the last week of the season picking a ridiculous upset that came through.
Just seen the late games and we have all gone the same except me taking the 49rs over the Rams. The competition basically comes down to the very late game if Matt and Warrior13 have gone for different teams. If they have gone for the same team Matt is the winner. If not and Matt's team loses it goes to a tie breaker. For me to win I need the 49rs to win, hope Matt has gone with the Chargers and the Raiders win and then hope I win the tie breaker.
Holy crap, wild week. For the Steelers to get in, they needed to beat the Ravens and the Jags had to beat the Colts. I had given up hope but Trevor Lawrence put in the best game of his career and the Steelers beat the Ravens in OT, so as long as the Chargers and Raiders don't tie the Steelers are in, and the winner of that game gets in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Steelers will be playing the Chiefs next week, the #3 Bills will play the winner of Raiders v Chargers, and the #4 Bengals will play the Pats.
In the NFC the Packers already had the 1 seed, but 2 was up for grabs. The Bucs took that with a win, and the Rams loss to the 49ers gave the Cowboys the 3 seed, who will host the #6 49ers. Eagles will play the bucs and Cardinals will face the Rams.
The winners here for the non-playoff teams are the Jags and Lions for sure, who locked up the #1 and #2 picks despite winning against good teams. The Giants will also have picks #5 and #7 (via the Bears) so good for them. The Eagles also have #15 via the Dolphins and will get somewhere between #16-18 via the Colts as well as their own pick.
The loser of the day/season has to be the Colts, 2 weeks ago they were flying high and now I've seen calls for the coach to be fired. Now they're out the playoffs with no first round draft pick and a QB they can't trust on an albatross contract.
That was a wild finish, I still don't know who has won. Matt and Warrior13 both ended up wit the same number of points at the end of the season and the Dallas Cowboys have come back to haunt me otherwise it would have been a three way tie.
Well done Warrior. You kept in touching distance, and had a brilliant week. Albeit with a bit of luck, but we have all had good/bad luck. That Detroit pick was so, so gusty.
As I explained before, since there is a tie between me and Warrior, we will continue the competition into playoffs. The original rule was that only the people who tied would be in contention to win, but Dennis is just 1 behind us. It seems harsh that he would miss out.
Warrior13 are you happy for me to edit the rules, and allow everyone (including Mike) to continue (giving Dennis a chance to win)? If not I get it, since we are currently 1st.
Speaking of the games, there was so much choking and so many upsets. LA Chargers' defense is disgraceful. They had so many chances to stop Las Vegas on 3rd down and force a tie, but choked. But that wasn't even the worst. Indy have produced arguably the 2nd worst choke I have ever seen, considering the circumstances and consequences of a win vs a loss (28-3 is the worst). Jacksonville had no reason to win, and a win would've taken them to pick 2 had Detroit not won. Meanwhile Indy were relatively healthy, and playing for the 6th seed in the playoffs. Horrible.
Nice win for Miami, and a great result to sweep New England (playoff team). Tua had a poor game with 15/22 for just 109 yards, 1TD & 0INTs. He didn't throw an INT which was good, but the conservative stats will give the haters ammunition. Still, a 9-8 reason after starting 1-7 is a great result. 8-1 in our last 9 games, with the one loss being against the #1 seeds away from home. Also all of our 9 wins except Week 1 were convincing (no narrow margins).
Playoffs are:
Pittsburgh (7) @ Kansas City (2) New England (6) @ Buffalo (3) Las Vegas (5) @ Cincinnati (4)
Philadelphia (7) @ Tampa Buy (2) San Francisco (6) @ Dallas (3) Arizona (5) @ LA Rams (4)

That Detroit pick over Green Bay was just incredible, Green Bay were trying to win that, they put up 30 points. I can't remember the last time Detroit put up 37 points, let alone against the hot favorite to win the Super Bowl. What makes it more remarkable is Detroit has the second worst record in the league.
As far as I am concerned, rules are rules and the competition is now between Matt and Warrior and may the best man win. I'll still do the picks and hopefully Steelersrock01 will do so also. Some tricky games in the playoffs.
I'm already looking forward to next seasons competition, that was a crazy ending, I was trying to keep track of five games at once at one point. I was convinced Herbert and the Chargers would win that game when I saw all the injuries the Raiders had. I'll be supporting the Raiders from here on in, I like the way they didn't give up after all the turmoil the club has had during the season with its coach, drunk driving, and injuries.
If everyone wants to have an extenuation, I'm down. I would love to see Dennis come back and win.
If by the original rules and just between Matt and myself to decide a true winner, I'm okay with that too.
Shoot, if Matt just wants to call it a tie and separate the playoffs like normal, I'm fine with that as well. I usually do mediocre in the playoffs anyway. lol
Looks like it's up to steelers01 to decide what to do. It looks like it's going to be broken down into the following though:
NFL season Winner: (between Matt and Warrior13). What happens if the pair of you are still tied after the Super Bowl? Have to implement some kind of tiebreaker. Something like to predict the score, the closest wins.
Playoff Winner: All four of us start from scratch, it would be a bit unfair to continue from the regular season. I'm only one game behind but steelersrock is about five, the guy would literally have no chance of winning.
