I love driving. I have driven 5,000 miles in a week when I took a trip to Texas. I traveled back and forth from New York to Tennessee which was about 800 mile trip one way. Then I drive Fire Trucks, Ambulances etc on my off time and nothing beats rushing through the streets with red lights and sirens maneuvering through people that don't want to pull over for you.
The hardest part about learning to drive was me always being very overly cautious, breaking way to early and anticipating traffic signal changes.

Firefighting and Bullriding is my life, wouldn't trade it for anything.
Driving in the US seems to be very different. (although I've only driven a few miles there myself) But the attitude to long distances is different. In the UK I like driving but I usually consider driving for more than an hour to be a chore. Whereas US friends will do a 10 hour trip to visit family regularly. I do do some long trips each year, 6 - 8 hours and I always travel very early to avoid the traffic. Ihen its great and I do enjoy it.

Expensive living areas, job requirements. Like my job is a merchandiser for coke and of the of the ones for pepsi will easily drive an hour or to various places because they have too. It's little bit different cause job requirement but sometimes it's just cost effective to drive places if you make enough money
I've done a train commute that was an hour each way. Wouldn't have been able to have afforded to live closer at that time. And I briefly commuted an hour each way by car for a job. It was worth it to have the job. Ended up moving close to the job though.

It's because you have to drive around the actual island, following the coast at all times. If you decide to cut through the middle it can take longer still. They did construct a tunnel and new roads that go from the north west of the island and cuts through to the west then to the south. This cuts a chunk off the journey and means you can get there in an hour (ish.) Depending on the traffic, if you get stuck behind a tourist your are buggered most of the time.
Its not that the roads are bad, its motorway all the way. Its basically that the roads were designed when there were less vehicles on the road and so there can be a lot of traffic build up or yet another accident. The island is small but its a nightmare to drive through.
Thanx to Craizen for the sig, love ya babe, Hubby for the avi.
I mean technically the companies could direct sale to walmart and cut us out but yeah right now in it's current state without the merchandisers 3/4 of soda/tortillas/bread/deli/some pastries/some milk brands/frozen goods would be empty non existent. Like most of our stores in our area are worked twice a day maybe more during holidays
just learn the rules and drive more to get more driving experience . Practice really makes perfect. Also if you affair of bumping into other car , get a Range rover . It wins all the timed, this is what my mom taught me
-Test driving an old Volvo- -Insurance scammer jumps on car- You: What the heck? -Gets out of car- You: Get up -Person doesn't move- You: I'm calling the police -Police and ambulance arrive- Ambulanceman: He's dead. He suffered a brain haemorrhage after hitting his head on your car. You: Well I'm buying this thing since it protects me from insurance scammers. Look! Not a dent!
Just started learning last week. Better late than never, but so far going well. Still learning and nervous at times, but the two lessons I've had so far, the instructor seems really pleased. Fingers crossed I get on well and pass this fairly quick.
Anth - Good luck! I've been driving about a year now but still haven't passed the test after 4 tries. Despite that I'm still fairly confident. Take your time and remember that no matter how bad you think you are at driving, there are tonnes of people worse than you.
~ Sometimes people change, but sometimes you just open your eyes & realise who they truly are ~
