*Only vote if you are participating in the FExPokemon Brawl. Thanks.
I was leaning toward the first option, but that'll be more bland, so I decided to ask all of your opinions. I won't vote, so first to 4 votes wins. (7 other contestants)
To clarify, the first option treats this Brawl like two seperate Brawls, with the winners of the individual Brawls fighting for the Grand Champion honors.

I vote for a fire Emblem bracket and a Pokémon bracket with the matches being random within each bracket. Characters like Lillie that essentially are so good that they just won't lose should get easy matchups in the first round. Lillie vs Parasect for example (sorry Matt).
I respectfully disagree. That's too radical. Then Freez will unintentionally (or intentionally) have some bias and may give his favourites or generally popular characters an easy path. In my Nintendo Brawl I did this time last year Shaymin pulled off a HUGE upset to come from being a Freez fan-favourite who he desperately wanted to do well despite it having little chance and being very unknown, to wiping the floor with Greninja 5 votes to 0 in the championship match. It was given a 1 in 128 chance to win just like all others. It's exciting to get an unexpected winner. If Lillie is as popular as she is made out to be, then she will end up making it to the final anyways. You'd expect Luigi to be popular, but he lost in Round 1 fair and square.
Warrior the brawl you voted every time in (or at least nearly every time), as I just said, resulted in a 5-0 whitewash of Shaymin over Greninja. That was all v all (the type you support).

Don't go too hard on him Matt, he hasn't experienced a Brawl before. The way you described was my plan, two brackets, but individually randomized. Shaymin's miracle run came from her clutching out EVERY match she was in by ONE vote until the final round, where everyone was so surprised she was there that she garnered everyone's support.
The point of a Brawl is to watch in shock as a relatively unknown character wins, thanks to people with little knowledge of the series selecting by looks, which is why adding FE characters makes it more intriguing.
That said, please vote for the FIRST option Mewtwo. That's what you want.

Well of course I want the first option. I meant that it would be completely random but the four characters most likely to go to the championship should be in separate divisions thus preventing them from meeting until the final four.
Also Freez's bias would be completely done away with by seeding characters using an equation.
Perhaps I'll do another brawl for something one day. It's too late to start planning this year, and at the start of next year I'll be watching hours of tennis so January is rules out. Maybe around this time next year.
Maybe I'll just do another Nintendo Brawl, but with several characters replaced either from being unpopular or from having past success. I don't play Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Legend of Zelda etc and there'd be a heap of characters that I could pick, or a heap of characters that I haven't even heard of. I'd dump a lot of Animal Crossing characters, Super Paper Mario characters, & dump Boo cause of King Boo & his success.

Warrior: Really? Cross Stinger started them then? (as I've alluded to a couple times, I may or may not poke my nose around into the glory days of SC. Sadly missed them by two years myself.)
Matt: Yeah, Brawls are just a lot of fun, I love seeing who'll win. As much as you want your fav characters to win, rooting for those you know nothing about and just love their looks is a lot of fun too. Maybe you could plan one for summer?
