I used to be into it, I used to like watching Bjorn Borg, John McInroe, Jimmy Connors, and a few others back in the day. Briefly got back into the game when Maria Sharapova arrived on the scene back in 2004 but haven't followed it much since.
I don't like that Andy Murray for starters, I find him annoying. If I watch Tennis now it's to see Roger Federer's backhand, one of the best if not the best I've ever seen. Favourite player at the moment has to be Nadal, that guy is unbelievable on clay and to think he learn't his Tennis along with Andy Murray just down the road to where I live in Barcelona.
Very into tennis. Just watched a few matches actually. And Dennis I agree I don't particularly like Murray.
Federer just put on a usual masterclass. I have him winning a 9th Wimbledon title. In the women's, it's between Halep, Wozniacki, & Serena Williams for me. Sloane Stephens just got thrashed in the first round, so she's not winning it that's for sure.
Britain don't have much hope I'm afraid. Murray pulled out, so that leaves Kyle Edmund as your only hope. He's good, but not quite ready for a grand slam title. Konta's in a bad form slump and her attitude has been strange lately. She had a meltdown late in a final recently. I don't see her getting back to the semis.

I don't even look at Andy Murray and regard him as British, early in his career he was quite vocal in telling everyone he was Scottish and when Scotland had their vote to leave the UK he again made his feelings clear. As far as I am concerned the last British player to win Wimbledon was Fred Perry.
I'd like to see Federer win his 9th Wimbledon, the guy is a legend. Makes you wonder how many titles the guy would have won if his career hadn't of overlapped with Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray and Rafeal Nadal. He definately would have won at least another four Wimbledon titles.
Yeah, wasn't there a huge thing where Murray won an Olympic gold medal but when the British media ran around like he was a national hero he said he was Scottish?
I guess Federer's just lucky Djokovic, Murray, Wawrinka, & Raonic all got injured at the same time for him and Nadal to take advantage. He's just unbeatable at Wimbledon at this time, much like Nadal winning his 11th French Open.
Speaking of classy players, Australia has some shockers in the men's draw. Nick Kyrgios is ever so slowly fixing his attitude issues, but our king of dickheads Bernard Tomic was a lucky loser so he makes it into Wimbledon and wins $30,000 automatically. If you haven't heard of either, have fun researching ;) To give a quick rundown, he was a young talent who made Wimbledon's QFs at age 18, but slowly turned into a spoiled brat and started sulking/tanking when things weren't going right. After slowly slipping down the rankings, he went on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Australia to "show the public who I am", only to quit after 3 days, stating "I know what I need to do". Strange, since the Australian women are the polar opposite.

There's been quite a few Aussies over the years that played in Wimbledon with an attitude. The one I liked though was Pat Cash, I remember him having a few choice words with Boris Becker during a match when he felt the German was mocking him.
Bernard Tomic is a waste of a Wimbledon entry and it would do everyone a favour if Nick Kyrgios is just banned from Wimbledon, I don't like seeing idiots like him smashing up 300 dollar rackets and arguing with the referee because they didn't get a point, it just sets a bad example for kids that are watching.
Nadal has been my boy for a decade. I would like to see him sweep the rest of the majors this year. I really think he will finish with more titles than Federer.
Yeah. The problem is that Nadal automatically wins a French Open every year, and now probably one of the Australian or US. Then when Federer retires he can easily make up the distance he's behind in.
That said, Federer will win Wimbledon with little doubt. The US will be the interesting one. Last year Federer was carrying a slight injury & played two 5-set matches to begin, so he was playing on borrowed time. When fit they're basically equal on hard courts. Outside of Federer, Nadal's competition are pretty inconsistent and can't win 6 consecutive matches to get to the final.
The women's draw has been nearly wiped out. Of all top 10 players, only Halep & Pliskova remain, and Pliskova was a set and 1-4 down before escaping. Looks like we'll be seeing Serena winning another one...

Serena Williams is the Mike Tyson of Tennis, when she is in form there's nobody that can touch her. It amazes me how she can get around that court for such a big girl.
As for Nadal, out of the top players of this era he is my favourite, unfortunately he will not overtake Federer as he is already contemplating retirement. He's basically got too many injuries and wants to do something different. Nadal will go down as the greatest clay court player ever, his 11 French Open Championships guarantee that. It's not surprising though as I've lived in Spain for almost fourteen years and have never seen a grass court, they just don't exist over here, they are all red clay.
At age 32 I doubt Nadal's retiring anytime soon. I'd say he has at least 2 years left, meaning he'll automatically earn 2 more French Open titles, and can have a shot at 2 more Aus Opens and 3 more US Opens. There's probably a combined 4 out of all them which I'm pretty sure gets him ahead of Federer. It all depends on when Federer retires and how long Nadal plays for.
Just watched Serena make light work of her 4th round opponent. At this stage everyone in the draw except Kerber should be playing scared since it's practically impossible to beat Serena at her best. Funnily enough too, Kerber is now the top player in the draw since all top 10 seeds are now gone!
I watched Federer play too, and there was the slightest of blips. He won the 1st set 6-0 in 16 minutes before some errors came in and the other sets were 7-5 & 6-4.
Also speaking of 16 minutes, that's how long it took Nick Kyrgios to lose the 1st set a few days ago 1-6 to Nishikori. It's fair to say he tanked, which just means unfortunately he's lapsed back into his old self. It's frustrating, cause he was just beginning to calm down, but every time that happens he does something stupid to sink back down. I can't believe during the Australian Open he has hundreds of fans cheering for him. Same with Tomic... It infuriates me...

16 minutes to lose a set! That's just shameful for a professional Tennis player. That's like 3 minutes a game... Under 1 minute a point...continuously losing.
I think Nadal will retire soon because of injuries, his body is beginning to break down. He's been on the circuit for quite a while now.
Tennis players these days can go and go. Venus & Serena Williams are 38 and 36 respectively. If what you say is true, Nadal should just skip the grass court season like how Federer skips the clay courts. It would be much better for his long term career. If Federer never decided to, I'm fairly confident this would be his last year.

It's crazy with the advancement on medicine and the understanding of vitimins and whatever that sports stars can prolong their career. It was only a few years back that when a soccer player reached 30 he was considered past it. It now appears that 40 is the new benchmark with sports stars like George Foreman, Barry Bonds, and Randy Couture still competing ccompetitively well into their 40's.
You beat me to it. I stopped & watched something else when Federer went 2 sets to love up. Came back at 4-4 in the 5th. Anderson eventually a winner 2-6 6-7 7-5 6-4 13-11! Saved a match point in the 3rd set!
Surely Nadal is now guaranteed another grand slam, and now very close to catching Federer. Federer was really sloppy at times.

Was. Nadal gives you nothing. His last 3 losses at Grand Slam level were Federer in 5 sets 18 months ago, Muller 13-15 in the 5th a year ago, & Cilic in 5 sets 6 months ago (with Nadal being injured from midway through the 4th).
I'd usually say Djokovic has a chance against Nadal, but he's been having brain implosions on a regular basis. Nadal will punish him if it happens again.
I hope Anderson advances to his 2nd Grand Slam final when he plays Isner. It frustrates me when players who have monster serves do well. That's honestly what gets them results. I have no idea how Isner is the 9th best player in the world.

Surprised Federer went down, I had him penciled in for another Wimbledon title. Nadal must be feeling confident now, the only one left in the big four is Djkovic and he seems to be more interested in arguing with the Wimbledon crowd. Why has Djkovic. slipped down the rankings, he was ranked number 1 in the world for a long time and is now number 13.
At Wimbledon a few years ago he was heading towards the calendar grand slam (all 4 slams in the same year) but got stunned in the 3rd round by a nobody Sam Querrey. I think he may've made the final of the US Open, but he blew a 1-set lead and lost in 4 to Wawrinka. Then at next year's Australian Open he again got stunned by Dennis Istomin from Uzbekistan of all places in the 2nd round! At Roland Garros he then failed miserably in the quarter finals and was thrashed in straight sets. Then at Wimbledon he made it to the quarters before a nasty elbow injury forced him to retire. It kept him out for a very long time and he missed about 6 months of tennis including the US Open. Then he again made it to the Aus Open quarters before he dropped the 1st set against Hyung Chung and felt his elbow injury coming back, before losing in 3 tight sets. He missed some more tennis. Then at Roland Garros he made it to; you guessed it, the quarters, before dropping the first 2 sets and falling short in a comeback against noname Marco Cecchinato.
This Djokervic is a different man completely. In the way he thinks about life and tennis, and in his random outbursts. He isn't even ranked 13th; Wimbledon seeded him 13th because they take into account previous injuries etc. He's done very well to get back to the semis.

I was never a fan of Djorkovic, I always found him 'boring' and lacking charisma. Great player though, I must admit I was surprised to see him react the way he did when the British public turned on him when he faced the British boy, what did he expect?
Who is the next superstar of Tennis, I remember all the whisperings of the young Spanish lad who had just turned professional and was going to become an all-time great who went by the name of Nadal.
