The ads here....

Is anyone else besides me having trouble with the SC ads covering some of the site content? Yes, I know we can close the ads, but this has never been an issue before so I don't know why it is one now. Just venting here mainly but if anyone agrees I'd like to know.

Just aggressive advertising... site needs to be revived. But what it once stood for "Cheats" really doesn't exists in this day and age anymore... needs a new direction. Most teens are into a streaming platform, videos, esports etc.

The site needed to be revived back as early as 2014 when discussions were first had about the issue. Too bad it's been on a slow downhill slope ever since, and has now hit rock bottom (1 thread in GC is active. This makes it 2).

It is very rare. If he speaks, then people listen.

I mention a lot that you should be an SC Legend, but CW's efforts here are very underrated. For years and years he's been active in Forum Games despite there being little activity.

We all deserve to be Legends. ;)

I mean I wish I knew what we could do to drive traffic here. The forums are very broad, I find myself on Bungie's forums cause of Destiny. I play that non stop.

To be blunt, the forums are totally outdated and have zero chance of being revived under their current format. I suppose a revamp is a possibility to change things, but these days people don't come on forums unless they are for a specific purpose.

These forums (ie General Chat, Forum Games etc) are too broad. Back in the day there used to be several categories, but nowadays if the forums go back to that structure it would be useless because activity is so low. Either alternative is a problem.

Am separating this part because I had an idea. After all, this thread is about the ads, and you also say there are too many ads on your screen. Why aren't the forums advertised? It's something some of us have discussed in the past as an idea, but it never came to anything. If amongst all the ads you and others see, there are some ads for the forums (maybe some for GC and some for FG), surely it will bring in more traffic. And more traffic means a higher chance of someone signing up and using these forums. Forum Games is one that would be appealing.

But, in all honesty, even if this idea is used, it probably won't make a difference. In a few weeks these latest threads that have had new activity will die too, and all that will be left is the NFL Discussion Thread (which will keep going).

I used to use AdBlock but that doesn't work on this site anymore. I can't even access the forums if I have it enabled. And the sidebar ads cover about 1/5 of the screen.

Maybe try updating or upgrading AdBlock. Not sure what version mine is, but the only ads I ever get is when I look at someone's bio a video ad pops up in the bottom right corner (which I can get rid of easily). Or maybe a different browser?

You've probably tried all these suggestions before, so maybe ask Rich about it?

My browser is Firefox because it seems fastest. I have Chrome on my computer but rarely if ever use it. It seems to run too slow. As for AdBlock, I seem to have the most up-to-date version. I just don't know why it worked fine before and doesn't now. SC must have done something with the ads that they weren't doing previously.

I use Firefox too but it's always been fine for me. It could just be SC playing up for you. In the past SC hasn't loaded things like avatars and signature images for me and not anyone else (and vice versa for other people) so it may be a problem only you have.

Firefox runs fine, it's Chrome that's slow. And the thing with the ads has nothing to do with the browser because I tried on both Chrome and Edge and the ads are the same. I don't have ad blockers on those browser so I don't know if it works. Chrome takes about 40 seconds to open my homepage whereas Firefox takes around eight. As for Edge...well, that's Explorer with a new name and a paint job, nothing special.

Its good to see the site is still around. It was a big big big part of my life for quite a while
