Are you referring to him claiming he was set up at Cleveland to lose? I thought the Browns did a decent job getting star players to be honest. They got Beckham Jr who later went to the Rams and doesn't seem to have a problem connecting with Matthew Stafford yet looked dead in the water at Cleveland.

I was referring more to how he thought he could just demand a trade and pick his destination, like he is Russell Wilson or something. That is what teams do not like. Plus, a lot of GMs do not want the circus of his media deals.

In that case Baker Mayfield has lost track of reality. He is not in the superstar elite bracket with the Wilsons, Watsons, and Rogers. He is with the serviceable quarterbacks like the Trubishkys, Goffs, and Daltons who don't have any clout and should just be happy they have a starting job in the NFL. I personally can't see Mayfield starting for another NFL team after this year, he's done as a starter, will end up as a backup somewhere and a former number one pick who will forever be known as a bust.

I think he could definitely be an Alex Smith type of guy. But as the Niners and Chiefs showed, a guy like that needs everything around him in place.

Lol, I can't see Baker Mayfield being the management type quarterback who plays conservatively. He wants to be the center of attention winning come from behind games. In Mayfields mind he is the second coming of Bernie Kosar-

He needs to realize what he is. If not for Chubb and Hunt and that O-Line, Baker would have washed out. He is capable, but he is not a superstar game changer.

I'm interested to see what the Browns plan is if Watson does get suspended.

That's starting to look likely now he's been called in for a meeting by the NFL. I wonder how used Baker Mayfield is going to feel when the Browns tell him he is their starter until the end of the suspension. I wouldn't be surprised if he suddenly developed a phantom injury and can't play. He knows he is not playing in front of Watson.

I don't think Baker will play even if Watson is suspended. That's why they've got Jacoby Brissett.

I feel the same way, Mike. When talking with my dad recently, he was adamant on Baker playing if/when Watson gets suspended. I had to nicely tell him that such a thing wasn't going to happen, at least not with Baker. No way he plays another snap for the Browns.

Most people think Watson will get suspended anywhere from 4-8 games, but I'm leaning more toward 2-4 games now. He is working with the NFL, and I think they will like that. Plus, in terms of money, it does them no good to give him a lengthy suspension and have the Browns be mostly unproductive. 4 Games Max imo.

Kind of BS when Elliot got 6 games for a single he said/she said allegation. NFL punishment for this stuff seems completely random.

I know what you mean steelersrock01, I have noticed over the years that the NFL is lenient towards their superstar players when it comes to suspensions so I'm agreeing with Warrior13 and going with four weeks.

What's the point of hanging onto Mayfield if the Browns have Jacoby Brissett. Why didn't the Browns trade him for a first or second round pick in this years draft and wash their hands of him and allow Mayfield the opportunity to start again with another team? The guy now has hardly any chance at all now of becoming a starter at an NFL team, if he had of got traded back before the Draft he would at least be competing somewhere for a starting place.

Baker Mayfield apparently has the strongest arm in the NFL, he can through the ball 80 yards through the air accurately. For some reason I thought it was Mahomes.

Mike: Yeah, just the way it is.

Dennis: I'd have to say that Allen and Mahomes have the strongest arms. Both are in the 70-80mph range, and we know for a fact Mahomes can throw it 85+ yards. Lamar Jackson had a video out of college throwing it 100 yards, but the angel was horrible and I doubt that it was real.

I agree with you Warrior13, from what I have seen Allen have the strongest arm. Just been watching a video on Youtube and Josh Allen hits 80 plus yards every time.

Yeah, Allen has a huge arm. Not in the realm of Marino, of course, but no one is.

I've been going down the park with my son and nephews and throwing an NFL football about. Haven't done so in 34 years so wanted to see if I could still throw a decent spiral. I think 40 yards is about my limit, it left me wondering how the pros generate the power to make that ball stay in the air 80 plus yards. Players like Dan Marino literally flicked just their wrist.

Yeah I can maybe hit 45 on a good day without hurting myself. Crazy how strong these guys are.

I need to go on an actual football field and try it out. I think most ordinary people could do 40-50, but it is hard to determine on a field. If I play flag football or two hand touch with some friends - In no way will I ever play tackle outside of pads - and I play QB, I like west coast anyway. Dink and dunk patience.

You have to realize that these guys are trained since young the proper motions and workouts. I bet if the three of us went to an instructor for a week, we would easily throw 50 no problem. Accuracy, obviously, is a whole different story; all about those reps.

Give it a month or two I'll have 50 plus, I've been watching a lot of videos on YouTube on how to throw the football and I am beginning to understand the mechanics of it now. It's basically like swinging a golf club, if you get the motion correct the ball will fly. From what I have seen so far you have to:

1) Hold two or three strings

2) Make sure there is air between your palm and the ball when you grip it.

3) High range of movement over your head

4) Shoulders at an angle

5) Shift your weight from your back leg to the front

6) Pivot your waist to generate power.

7) Flick down when you release the ball so it spins.

If you can do all these things together seamlessly then the ball should look like poetry in motion when you throw it. I must admit my throws are starting to look good, I actually get a feeling of satisfaction when I see the balls spiral perfectly for 40 yards and flies in an arc.

Yeah, that is exactly how my dad taught me to throw. Takes practice, hard not to try to make your arm do it all. But if you dont, you get ducks.

I would rather play safety. lol
