Any thoughts about it? Death poll rises to more than 200 people today, and it is pretty alarming. Do you think that China did really made this virus? Australia has successfully made a clone a couple of days ago.
It all looks dubious to me to be honest, the Chinese don't help themselves by creating wierd and wonderful dishes that involve cooking things like bat. Apparently bats carry all sorts of viruses.
I'm sure a an antidote will be created soon if the Aussies have already managed to make a clone of it.
I'm sure cures will be made for this strain of the virus. There are for other more common forms of the disease. I know my dog has been getting shots for the Coronavirus biyearly since we got her; obviously a more common strain.
It seems the Chinese media are suppressing the correct information, and giving multiple pieces of information which all differ. Worrying because 200 are dead, and experts say that 100,000 are already infected. China don't have enough resources in hospitals because they haven't been provided what they need from the 'government' (dictatorship).
There are already several cases in Australia and we're having to ship them off to a small island off Aus's coast.
If handled properly then it should be cured and barely reach other countries. But if it's not handled properly, then we're screwed, starting with China, other Asian countries, and Australia.

Same here. Australians are being sent to Christmas Island. But apparently now the Chinese 'government' have blocked the remaining flights out.
Death toll is now approaching 800 minimum.
The whistle blower doctor who first mentioned the virus died of it a few days ago. Wouldn't be surprised if he was either given the virus directly, or was actually killed and it was made to look like a coronavirus death.
It's all a mess.

There was a cruise ship in which the virus was discovered in a patient - they?ve all been allowed to leave now. I believe the NZers on board were some of the few who returned to the country recently. AIR NZ charged NZ$500 for the flight which is good, some people think it should have been free but it?s expensive flying a plane from pretty much anywhere to NZ.
It's here in Australia now. No local deaths though (1 man who was on holiday in Asia). The media is ridiculous. Every news headline is talking about the 'horrors' of the coronavirus and how the nation will be in "lockdown". The idiots don't understand that one death after coming back from overseas doesn't mean that we're all going to die.
Now old people are raiding shops. There are empty sections on the shelves everywhere. Particularly: Spoiler:
Toilet paper People are hoarding toilet paper in waves. There are people standing waiting for the delivery to be put on the already empty shelves, and are talking them off immediately (usually two 24-packs for each person). It's leaving common, younger people with little toilet paper, and most shops either have a few packs or none at all.

China are now saying the danger has passed and hospitals are sending patients home. I get the feeling this is just propaganda because a couple of days ago the Olympic committee were talking about putting the games back or letting another country host it. How many millions would that cost China in lost revenue if that happened. International soccer games are now being held behind closed doors as the number of infected people in europe rises.
This year's Olympics are in Japan, so it doesn't affect China. All reports suggest the Olympics are all but over, and will be cancelled completely.
You're right, it's propaganda. China is a corrupt dictatorship, and that's how the whole thing started. A doctor tried to warn the public earlier than it was announced, but he was politely asked to not spread any rumours. Not long after that the coronavirus became common knowledge, and a few weeks later the doctor supposedly died from the disease (if it wasn't directly injected into his system).
People are saying it started from the public eating bats. But they've been doing this for centuries. It's pretty obvious that the Chinese government created the disease, and once it unexpectedly was released, they shut up shop. Within a week of the virus becoming news to the public, other countries had successfully created versions of the coronavirus.
I don't think a vaccine has been made yet. But it isn't that much of a problem. People forget that millions of people die from regular flu each year.

People are worried in europe, especially those with low immune systems and respiratory problems. You can't buy face masks or other products to protect yourself in Spain at the moment. The government have prohibited it, the stocks go directly to hospitals in preparation for the outbreak. It's only a 2% mortality rate but that still adds up to a lot of people when you take into account millions will be infected. The British government have said in the upcoming months one fifth of the the workforce will be off sick, businesses will be closed as will schools. In Italy this has already happened.
The virus only badly affects older people with ongoing medical conditions. Being in a country that isn't completely 1st world doesn't help either. That's why Italy have suffered badly from it.
It beats me why all countries haven't stopped non-nationals from coming in, and from quarantining nationals as they return home. Essentially a domestic problem in China has been allowed to spread worldwide. 2% of the population is 153.6 million people. We all better hope that it calms down, otherwise this will be the end game. It's much easier to spread than I initially thought.

People are taking liberties with this virus outbreak. Masks that are usually a few cents are now going for 5 euros a piece, if you can find them. Hand sanitizers are being sold multiple times above their usual price, again if you can find them...
The companies that make the portable plastic containment tents are unindated with orders and pretty soon the undertakers will be very busy. The British government have put the army on standby to help the police with public order and retired doctors have been called out of retirement to help out.
This is turning into something out of a Stephen King novel, The Stand comes immediately to mind.
Hoarding of toilet paper, hand sanitiser, tissues, paper towel, paracetamol, rice, and pasta among other items, has began happening worldwide now. Huge portions of supermarket shelves are empty, with stock running extremely low.
According to a recent poll, 44% of Americans wouldn't drink corona beer, a common brand, because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Music festivals are being cancelled in the US, and now a prestigious tennis tournament in California has been cancelled due to a grand total of 1 coronavirus case in the state. A tournament of similar size in Miami which will be on in 2 weeks time is extremely likely to be cancelled too.
In Europe, some soccer leagues are playing their matches behind closed doors with 0 fans present. Read Madrid and Barcelona played seperate matches in front of 0 spectators just a few days ago. It won't be long until all European sports do the same, and it will eventually escalate in the UK too.
Australia's main 2 sports codes begin in 3 days and 10 days respectively. I'd say there's a very high chance that spectators will be banned from the stadiums eventually.
I don't recall sports and music events being cancelled/prohibited during the deadly annual flu season. Odd.

Starting to feel the effects now in Europe, the London Marathon has been canceled and in Spain you cannot buy hand sanitizers or facemasks, the government has prohibited it. All supplies go directly to the hospitals. How long do you think this will last? I know Trump is on the case after brushing it off last week. It was the Americans who found the cure for the Ebola virus.
It will be interesting to see what happens with the Olympics and the Euro 20 (Soccer), FIFA are already talking about putting the Euro's back a few month but China I get the feeling want the Olympics to continue regardless, too much money for them to lose out on after investing millions in preparing the country for the event.
You must've missed part of one of my previous posts. The 2020 Olympics are being held in Tokyo, Japan. China had Beijing in 2008.
If the so called '5th Grand Slam' of tennis has been cancelled because of 1 case of coronavirus state-wide, the Olympics are guaranteed to be cancelled. The media panic and hype will only get worse and worse as time goes on, and the authorities in charge will cave.
The Euros will also be cancelled I believe. At minimum it will be postponed.
Apparently the earliest date a vaccine for coronavirus can be made is a few months away. Many are saying it will not be ready until next year.
The virus also has implications in tennis. I legitimately believe the entire tennis season will be cancelled. At the moment most tournaments are in the US, which as I mentioned has already seen 1 major one be cancelled, with another surely to follow. It would mean all remaining US tournaments would be cancelled. Then it's onto the clay court season in Europe, where the coronavirus is far worse than in the US. All clay tournaments including the French Open will be over. The grass court season is also in Europe, and by the time we reach June the virus will be entrenched into the UK and Wimbledon will be cancelled as well. The authorities have a huge battle on their hands to fix matters in the US in time for the US Open, otherwise that'll be 3/4 grand slams cancelled.

Trump has imposed ban for the whole of Europe except the UK and Ireland to enter the US for the next month. The ban starts Friday. Starting to see empty food shelves in Spain as people beging to stock up....
You can't fault Trump here, whether or not he's been told to make this decision. He's finally pulled his finger out. It will at least ensure that the spread from international visitors ends. Australia were one of the first to ban China from coming in, and have since included other countries such as South Korea and Italy.
Sport is over. All tennis tournaments will be cancelled up until May 3rd at the earliest. Serie A is also cancelled until April 3 at the earliest. The EPL are beginning to play matches in front of no spectators, and if this spreads to divisions 2 and lower, clubs could go bust. The team I support Swansea play in the 2nd division, but should survive financially. Hopefully.
Famous actor Tom Hanks also contracted the coronavirus in Australia.
Schools here are said to be ready to extend the upcoming school holidays. Any rumour surrounding the virus has come true, so this will happen. I'd imagine this will be similar in other countries.

Yes Matt, my son's school has informed us they may be closing until further notice due to the Coronavirus. The UK have told its citizens if they show any symptoms to self quaranteen themselves and the government will give them sick pay. I can't figure out how Italy got themselves in such a state, hundreds of people are dying there.
I'm in no way a Trump supporter but the guy does make some good decisions every now and again, this being one of them. Sensible thing to do.
This whole thing is out of control. People do realize that it's basically a flu, right? That 90+% have it through their system in like 2-3 days? That really only elderly people and those with compromised immune systems are at serious risk of dying, basically like the flu each year?
