I Have A Full-Time Job!

Ah yeah I never got into the whole drug/rave scene. Alcohol is the most I do and now it's only rarely. I saw a friend do a couple lines of coke once and his reaction to it was enough to turn me away. A lot of people here just smoke weed casually because it's becoming legally in a lot of places, it's not really for me though.

My younger brother use to be into raves, but I have not heard him gong to any since he turned twenty one.

This old soul never thought about doing anything of the sort.

It was always the kind of thing I really had to force myself to go to in a big group of friends. Not really my natural personality at all. In college once I got my own more comfortable group of friends and a girlfriend I pretty much lost all desire to go out to that kind of thing. And now that I'm a couple years out I really have no desire for it, and a lot less opportunity.

It seems like more a thing for those with an opposing personality to that of mine. lol

The drug element when it really hit during the late 80s put me off going to nightclubs to be honest, the rave music was garbage in my opinion. Not my thing, I like Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC DC, basically rock music from the late 60s and 70s.

The music is definitely garbage. I grew up with that same 60s/70s/80s classic rock music. It's all my parents listen to still lol. These days I'm more into alternative/folk-ish rock but I still love me some classic stuff.

You are speaking my language, Dennis. 70s and 80s are my thing. Some new stuff is okay, but it just does not do it for me. Some 90s stuff is good as well, but I grew up in that era so that might explain that one.

I've got a soft spot for 90s punk and early/mid 2000s alternative.

My 90s stuff is sadly boy bands (I blame growing up with three sisters), but there is some alternative from that area that I like. Love Soul Asylum and Oasis.

I like some Oasis. Third Eye Blind, Good Charlotte, some Green Day. I still jam out to Counting Crows. I hardly ever find new modern music now because I use Spotify and it builds recommendations based on what you listen to so it just keeps giving me more and more obscure 90s and early 2000s stuff lol.

Yeah, I really only like Oasis best songs. Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova are their best imo.

I have not heard any new stuff since moving away last year. I was only exposed to it around my siblings for the most part.

I really don't listen to too much music these days. Really only a couple hours a week, I make time in the evening to read and I like to have a playlist on in the background. Other than that it's just what happens to be on the radio. "Listening to music" will never be a main hobby for me like it is for some people lol.

When I'm writing or doing work, I really just have elevator music playing the background. There's a station on Music Choice that is just instrumental of classic rock and pop hits, which is nice since it's not enough to get distracted.

That's pretty cool. The only time I use Music Choice is when it's a holiday and we have family over and put on one of the stations for background noise lol.

I find it difficult to focus if I have music on in the background while I work. Certain songs invoke specific memories from a different time in my life and I start getting nostalgic thoughts that distract me. 80s music is the worst as these were the hits when I was a teenager. I had Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love as my wedding song.

Mike: When family comes over, it's usually Football or Basketball on all the tvs. If it's not a holiday with any of that, the older folks usually just want the weather on in the background. I don't understand why for the latter. lol

Dennis: Same here, which is why I just go with instrumental of classic hits.

Lol, I need silence otherwise my creative juices don't function correctly.

I feel the same way sometimes. But my brain usually never turns off, and silence doesn't always mix well with that.

What is up with old people and watching the weather? My dad has unironically started watching the programs on the Weather Channel for hours every night.

I have no idea steelersrock01, what is strange though is I like to watch the weather for London and I haven't lived in the for 20 years. Unlike Spain which is sunny every day, in England you never know what weather you are going to get the next morning, so I guess it's an old habit checking to see what weather conditions I will be facing the next day.
